Why does the mounted weapons on vehicles need to "warm up?

Post by Majoraspire »

As the title says: Why does some weapons need to "warm up" before every time you use them?

I dont know that much about real life weapons bu do they need to warm up in real life aswell?

NO but in real life you cant switch from the driver seat to the gunner seat of a Humvee instantly now can you ;-)

Yeah like maniac said it is to simulate the crawling to and readying of the weapon.
If you watch any video of a TOW (or similar) getting fired, the guy attempting to shoot it isn't running towards it, jumping in and insta-firing it. He is stationary for quite a while doing all sorts of stuff to align the target and what not.

Please don't stone me for that...probably discussed before but
wouldn't it be an option to have some sort of a delay between pressing "E" and actually sitting in the spot?

OR

You know when you ready the HAT your camera moves around. Imagine we could have a moving camera while changing seats. Let's say you sit in the driver seat and press "F2" your camera turns right, goes between the two front seats, looks up, turns around 180? and finally shows the 1P-view of seat 2.

I have NO idea if it is possible coding wise, and how much work that is but since I just got out of bed I post it anyway.

If this hijacking-attempt is illegal, posted in the wrong section or whatever please let me know and have mercy!

In case this would be a new idea/suggestion I would make another topic but I doubt it...

Kind regards,

That would be really nice, if possible but it's probably not possible

Sounds hardcoded, ye. At least the basic seat switch delay thing was already suggested and considered impossible to do. Since the camera stuff is even more complex, it probably isn't possible either.

Hence the delay we have right now. As already stated, the purpose of it is to simulate the time it takes to switch seats and arm the weapon. Interestingly, it also applies for stationary LMGs outside of vehicles, which, thinking about it, wouldn't need to be the case, at least not with the same delay (only the time it'd take to switch weapons normally). But really, that's a very minor detail, and usually it doesn't depend on a second or two when using stationary LMGs. For vehicles it often does depend on seconds, but as explained, the delay is there to simulate the seat switching mainly.
