[Help] Battlefield 2 Editor and Windows 7

Post by torenico »

Hi.

Recently i installed Battlefield 2 Editor on my system, wich is running Win 7 Ultimate 64bits - 4GB Ram.

Everything's fine untill i try to create a map, terrain editor>new> etc etc.

First, it seems to be loading something, like working (It creates the map files, but a few) and as soon as a little window appears in the middle of the screen, it crashes, the big Red and White Cross telling me if i want to open the Dmp Files, or create one.

Anyways, i cant create a new map, however i can load it and edit it but, i cant load it In Game.

I run Bf2editor with Admin mode and WinXp Servicepack 3 Compatibility Mode.

The Editor used to work fine back in my XP System, and i believe i had this problem on XP, i dont remember.

What's the problem? This particular version of Win7 (Ultimate), can be the problem? Am i missing anything? A .dll wich i dont know about?.

Thanks! :)

I think I have basically the same specs as u, I'm running a HP pavilion entertainment pc (laptop) with windows 7 64 bit (whether its ultimate I have no idea :P ), and I am also running it in admin. with the same compatibility, but it works fine for me.

The little window in the middle of the screen would be asking to choose the mod (vBF2, pr, predit, ect), so if it's crashing on that there maybe something wrong with that? Or you could just uninstall bf2 completely, re install it with the editor like normal and try again :)

Nope, no the Choose-a-mod window, when you start generating a map, a little "loading like" window shows up, as soon as it shows up it crashes.

this is one of the random bugs of the editor, easiest way is to create a level on a different computer and then copy paste it, if you dont have a different system ask someone esle to create the level for you

Anyroad, if not already installed, you should install DX9 as it's not included in W7 setup.

Download Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

Yeah, tried that but nothing.

It seems that i must ask someone to make Blank maps for me and make copies of them, what a weird way to map!

How about Dmps? Anything usefull inside? maybe the source of the bug or something...

Is there any difference between PR Blank Maps - BF2 Blank Maps?

Becuase i seek to map in Forgotten Hope 2, will they work?
