PR Bad performance

Post by Jafreiteris »

Hello, its quite bugging me a while, have searched on forums couple of day's and found many threats which where locked or there was a link
to the other thread, which ... is also being close. So i just want to get things clear.

I am having a laptop and here is specs:

AMD Athlon 2x processor p340 : Small info about this **** : The AMD Athlon II P340 is an entry level dual core processor for laptops. Compared to the faster Phenom II and Turion II processors of 2010, the Athlon II P320 features only a 64 Bit FPU (Floating Point Unit), and not 128 Bit as the Athlon II Desktop.

The Athlon II P340 offers an integrated DDR3-1066 (or 800 according to Wikipedia) dual-channel memory controller and a 1.6 GHz HyperTransport 3.0 link (HT3200) to the chipset.

The performance of the Athlon P340 is somewhere between a 1.8 - 2.2 GHz Pentium processor with 1 MB Level 2 Cache.

ATI mobility HD 5650 1gb

4 gb ddr3 RAM

500GB HDD (like that give a f)

+A cooler with two fans, which are upper on laptop (near original cooling fan.)

Performance :

On windows 7 performance check 1-7.9

Processor 5,2
RAM 7.1
Graphics 6.7
Gaming graphics: 6.7
P hard disk 5.8

As you can see, the biggest slowfuck is the processor.

Well about usage for gaming, its pretty good for my tryed games :
BF2 runs great on full setings
Stalker full
RE5 full
Brother in arms high way to hell using game booster full.

And here comes the PR...

Asad kahal : Running on 70-100fps
Kokan (+the part when almost all team spawned in house where was cathe (27)) 38-70
Korengal valley... now its shit, becouse i get 20-70fps, funny part then i was on cliff looking to whole map geting 56fps
and standing to a some rock i get 20fps....
Ramiel flying in helicopter firing on city i get about 30-40fps, put some parts in city i get 20fps.

Settings : Texture and texture filtering on high, 4x , 80% draw distance, lighting all low and lighting which affect building
don't go on low, its just gets off. everything else on medium. Using all high with 4x on ramiel co op skirmish spawning all 32 players on my side in city enterence
and trowing a granade in them does about 32 fps. In game play i have about 70C heat.(shows the program.)

So i am asking to tell me is this problem of game, becouse i found many people having those problem in latest realease and the incoming patch should at least fix someting related with this, or it is a other problem, and how to fix it, or just a bit of it.

How is 32 fps slow? Isnt that the speed your eyes go anyway?

Pluss having 32 bots takes alot of CPU power. So that is why it slows down.

Thank you for your replay. It would be awesome if that would stay, becouse sometimes for no reson (no fighting) the fps drops below 27, for example on the same ramiel same player on my team count but on setting which i typed in my first post (not full)

Taking a look at your rig, its definitely your CPU causing "some" of the lag. PR has become very, very CPU demanding and you should have a good quad or really powerful dual core to max out everything with no to little lag (Taking 60fps as refernce).

Anyway the maps are bigger and there are so many new statics which cause it to lag out badley (even some messed up optimization, right Rudd :D ).

I hear that bf2 only uses one core...

I think that's true, BF2 only uses one core from what I've heared.

I've also heard BF2 only uses one or two cores...
Anyway you could do with 2 GB more RAM
drop all lighting options down to low or medium.

i have already 4gb of ram , i don't think i need more of them. Any thought how make make my cpu work on both cores? (when i play its about 70% cpu usage. And as i was thinking, i remember that i have runned GTA IV with medium (as i remember you can look on car logos and small words (for example SABRE) with no problem from close and distance.) settings with good fps rate... for my listed game list its the most demanding game.

open your computer and clean it. may be because your cpu or anything else is overheating

He's using a laptop... They're a bit more tricky

Well trying to fly in ramiel in the center of the map gives me 20fps at the lowest, pretty shitty. :( Relly hopeing that incoming patch will come soon and it would fix this at least +10fps, i realy don't need more :/

Done some setings in ati cp, turned on catalyst AI (what the fuck is this?) and have lowered minimap seting from high quality to performance(the all ati 3d settings is a box to chose that the game settings would decide what graphics settings would be app, but on minimap there is none, so this realy affects graphics of game, by seting performance i have not found any graphics changes, but if i set high performance i notice a big reduction of graphics, for example humwe logo on side looks like shit.) and now i get the 40-50fps on flying on ramiel center... Well its was local empty game, but i now know that map and geomerty setings is not the problem as i thought, so i think the next performance fix patch should realy help. Now i have done that one of the forum members suggested : cleaning. I desembled my laptop, what was a pain in the ***, knowing that i fuck up here, my not even 1 year old laptop would be fucked up. Well becouse Jesus have decised to help me the all thing only took 3 hours, and everything works just fine, no more anoying fan sound. I have not tryied to play with new cleaned laptop or 'what the fuck happened' ati cp setings on full servers, but i think it may be helped to get the 10+fps i was wanting.
And i have another question : I am using windows 7, if i use windows xp, would that help geting more fps out of gameplay?

Well gived a try : Played standart ramiel , with 32 bots on emeny side, what means all bots where in the city. When flying i get average of ~32fps, and on lowest i have noticed 27fps. There was one time when i get 20fps, but i don't know why. But now i can fly without any slideshow, even shooted two cars and bunch of bots. Besides, if one of the members said true about playing with bots use much cpu, playing on server should even better.

Wicca.... eyes don't have a refresh rate....

They do have "optimal frequency" however. ;) It's seems that groups of 30 seem to be the best.

You can still see a difference between a 60hz vs 120 hz vs 240 hz monitor... at least... I can.

Plus, having your framerates at 60fps vs 30fps tends to be a bit smoother on a 60hz screen... which is why i get annoyed even with VSync on since mine is 59.7hz.... for some god awful reason... ._.

Anyways, I declare bollocks on your myth of a statement.

27fps as i know are the minimum for normal gameplay, everything moves just normal. Everything lower looks like fast slideshow, most anoying that you get lag by turning around.

Hey i also noticed that my cpu had x64 support, so what would be better for good performance, using windows x86 or x64?

I noticed that my cpu usage is good for game, but gpu is quite low, about 30% or even idle. Maybe geting more gpu usage would increase fps? And how?

Also when i look to any direciton (with lag or no) i get the same cpu usage
