Assign keys to volume +/-. I use numpad +/- and it works great.
- Takes too long to recognize who is talking.
Use mumble overlay. You can change the font type and size if it seems too big.
You have to start mumble before PR for this to work.
- You never know who is on Mumble and who isn't.
If you go on a server that encourages/forces players to use mumble, there is a good chance that most of the players will be using it.
- Too easy to loose contact with the squad and the SL.
- Too quiet at distance when SHTF, unless you turn down all your sound effects.
As others have said, use ingame voip to talk to your squad and use mumble to talk to the blue guys.
- Only certain servers run with Mumble.
I don't see a problem with this, those are also the better severs.

yea most mumble problems are due to people not reading the instructions correctly, and one they learn to use it the haters become lovers

Pluses are:
+Great sound quality.
+Directional sounds is great.
+Mumble is populated often.

Negatives:
- Too many people around, can't hear orders.
- Takes too long to recognize who is talking.
- You never know who is on Mumble and who isn't.
- Too easy to loose contact with the squad and the SL.
- Too quiet at distance when SHTF, unless you turn down all your sound effects.
- Only certain servers run with Mumble.
- Even on Mumble servers/squads mostly only use Mumble as a back up comm.

- Your doing something wrong, unless your standing in the main base with all 31 people you should not have problems hearing orders because of too many people.
- Again, unless your standing in main with 31 people talking you should be able to tell whos talking purely from the directional sound.
- Not a big deal, ask "hey, you on mumble?"
- Use VoIP
- Use VoIP
- Dont join them servers
- Use VoIP

Mumble is not a replacement for VoIP, yet, it enhances and assists it.

I set my ptt key to F. Then when i press F it selects someones name that starts with F or a server name that starts with F. It does this for all the keys. I dont get how to make it so i can talk.

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

It will still act as your PTT. The effect you're describing is just what happens when you have Mumble selected, Windows does this too (useful for finding files). It won't happen in game. To see what I mean, open Mumble, scroll so you can see your name, then click outside Mumble on your desktop. Then press F and you'll see your little speaker icon light up and you'll be able to talk.

Hope this helps

Doing it wrong.
T.A.Sharps wrote:What about on Matturah when my squad was bottled necked along with a few other squads, and we had to lay down a defensive perimeter in the ally because all hell was breaking loose around us with enemy running in from every driection?
Ive been in numerous situations like this, You should mainly be using VoIP so commands can be heard more clearly. This is a skill you just have to get use to, i Squad lead nearly constantly so imagine the above situation and add in squad leaders talking, yes it can get "too much" sometimes but its a skill you need to learn being able to manage it all, and the instances in which it does become too much are too far and few between to consider it a real problem.
T.A.Sharps wrote:think you need more experience playing PR with Mumble then, I just started, and already I've seen this problem in all sorts of situations.
I am proudly one of the first people to use Mumble, before we even had PR:Mumble and had to set all the settings ourself, i play on mumble only servers (PRTA) or i dont play at all, i have extensive mumble experience.

T.A.Sharps wrote:Yeah, you're right, I will just ask everyone to stop the fire fight for a minute so I can go take a poop and grab a beer too.
Makes no sense. If you want to talk to somebody on mumble, then they are close. If they are close it should take seconds to ask them if they are on mumble. Again, this is simply not a big occurrence to consider it a real problem.
T.A.Sharps wrote:What?
Mumble in its current state always has been a back up/side com. You shouldn't be surprised by this.

Again, i know what im talking about when it comes to mumble. Ive been using it for months and exclusively play on mumble only servers.

T.A.Sharps wrote:VOIP doesn't overtake what you hear on Mumble, so that wouldn't work. VOIP is almost totally muted under anyone on Mumble due to the difference in sound quality.
You know you can adjust the noise suppression... right?
When SHTF, you are not always right next to your SL or even others in your squad, and the Mumble is fainter at a distance. In the scenario I described you wouldn't be able to hear on VOIP either.
When SHTF you should run to your SL and re-think your plan.
In other case if you are SL then you should rally your squad and make a new tactic.
If regrouping is impossible-use VOIP/squad text chat
That is awesome, but the problems are still there no matter how long you have been dealing with them.
I don't see you making an effort to fix the obvious 'problems', only complaining. We all know the limitations of the current version of PRMumble. There are viable workarounds to every element.

Oh and can you please stop using bold in quotes to reply because it's very hard to re-quote.

I have Mumble set up, fully key mapped and ready to go but I've never used it. Nervous that I'll screw up the whole team thing once in server.
