I was recently in Congo and we were protecting a aid truck and we were ambushed by 13 to 14 rebels we neutralized them but we noticed they all were all carrying the common assault rifle in that part of the country the AK 104 similar to this but in wood

Re: assault rifle suggestion
If that was in wood, it should be the AKS-74 (No U, just AKS-74). It's got that folding stock. I highly doubt AK-101 or AK-104 would be standard issue for ARF. If anyone, the SL for MEC should get an AK-101. I have seen African Fighters with AK-74Ms.
If they weren't carrying an AKS-74, it could've been an AKMS. That's a standard AKM or AK47 with an underfolding stock. The stock on the picture you have reminds me of that captured North Korean AKS-74.

The stock in the supplied picture is a '74 Triangular side folder. That being said, the weapon pictured is a civilian rifle from the US, and is chambered in 7.62x39. It is not an AK104.aperson444 wrote: If they weren't carrying an AKS-74, it could've been an AKMS. That's a standard AKM or AK47 with an underfolding stock. I don't know what to think about this thread.

Maybe it was Zastava M92,
carbine version of Zastava M70,
used by some Special Forces in Serbia, but manufactured mainly for export.

Here is some modern version :

These are not Serbian soldiers . . .
