Re: Suggestions for Mumble
What do you mean we dont need them ? Being able to tall to individual squad leaders is an absolute must. And being able to bind 10 keys (keypad 1-9 for respective squad and 0 for all) would be perfect

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
We need them both the high altitude disconnects are a mega pain for the pilots and the inf trying to get some CAS, a real bug in positional that.
Individual squad to squad comms would be great as the SL channel traffic would be hugely reduced and people would feel able to speak more knowing they're not spamming the other 7 SL's with stuff that doesn't concern them.
The only problem would be that if squad 4 is already talking to Sq1 how would other SL's (without twinscreens) know to wait?

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
they wont, i guess you will have to manage it via more effective coms.
Squad 1:"squad 4 this is squad 1"
Squad 4: "squad 1 go ahead"
Squad 1: "blah blah............. blah"
Interrupting - Squad 6: "squad 1 this is squad 6"
Squad 1: "squad 6 hold coms"
Squad 1: "sorry 4, anyway, blah blah blah"
Squad 4: "squad 1 rgr"
Squad 1: "squad 6 this is 1, go ahead"
....

Why is 1. such a problem?Grober wrote:All those ideas are cool but i think we dont need them
1. Fixing problem when u flying with Jet or Chooper and when u are to hight or to away from map u are u linked. For me thats big problem.
2. Second stuff is merge mumble is PR and turning of VOIP adding for SQL liders on mumble same options like VOIP
Think about it for a sec, you'll find that can be solved in about 10 mins. Like, as soon as you are unlinked, your mumble client remains with the last known 3D position you had. That's how you can talk to your gunner/pilot, even if you're "unlinked'. Also, all the guys who are unlinked (not in game) will get starting 3D position (-100, -100, -100), so that it's impossible for them to annoy players in game. Also, you will not be able to hear them.
Problem solved.
2. merging mumble into PR is a bigger thing, thou nothing impossible or too damn difficult. TR.exe already knows your position, what squad you're in, even PRSPY knows what theam you're in. Using the same info, it shouldn't be too hard for tr.exe to run mumble joining you to the proper squad channel.
Then all you have to do is run PR.exe, and you will not be able to see tr.exe starting mumble.exe, but when you join the game, you'll have 3D positional audio, even if you fly too far/high.
Now, let's see if we can come up with suggestions that can help DEVs, instead just waste their time.

You can hear all 31 people in your team because your mumble is unlinked and it is annoying as hell.KingKong.CCCP wrote:Why is 1. such a problem?

SL individual chat (thus more buttons) is needed. badly. Devs shouldn't not implement it because people are slow or lack keyboards.

Can we have an actual radio come with every copy of PR plox? =D
No, I fully support individual SL channels. And perhaps, if 128 player gets incorporated officially, a platoon level communication method.

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
You should really do it. It works wonders. Outflanked a lot of squads that way. Also works with a 6 man squad. Have 3 guys surpress and have 3 guys flank. If you can do it unseen than you are almost guaranteed the kills.TheComedian wrote:Personally I hate squadleaders dividing squads into "Fireteams". Better to say just "Team".
I would like to experiment with two-part squads- one suppressing and one assault team just to see if the Brothers in Arms mechanic works in PR.

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
I'd like to suggest something like shout button for mumble. You know, just like the regular local speech, but about 3 times louder. That would be very helpful in loud situations like flying in a chopper, etc. i see disadvantages of this thing, but I'd like to find out what do you think about this.

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
I would like to see options for setting the squad-leader radio too one ear, either left or right and have an in-game option to do same with the voip if possible. That makes it easier to manage the incoming chatter and you can focus on one side while kind of blocking the other one out.
Something to make the radio's more realistic would also be nice. Like only being able to use all chat when you have kit with a radio or when you are in a vehicle (driver/gunner). What would be really cool is to have radio's emit sound like local speech. So squad mates and/or enemies can hear the radio and it becomes more vital to keep comms as silent as possible. A mute option would be needed though. When you are wounded or dead, the radio shouldn't work. local speech is ok as you are "wounded" and it doesn't have to mean that you can't talk.
A lot of things I can come up with but the left/right ear thing is something that would make things easier for people that want to use it as it would be an option you can change/turn off.

ACE + ACRE does a good job at it brain. Something like it would be nice for BF2, but we probably have more engine restrictions in BF2 so in-game voip could just as well be hardcoded..Brainlaag wrote:Played too mcuh ACE eh?![]()

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
Don't think it would come very far with the PR community, I mean look at them, they got all kind of troubles setting up Mumble, not to talk about directional audio for different channels and some kind of radio-kit. It would fry the average player's brain.DenvH wrote:ACE + ACRE does a good job at it brain. I see too many issues on the playerbase-side if adding anythinkg like that. Would be cool tho. Remember this is not ArmA, or UO

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
Only thing id like to improve for realism sake would be that even if you're speaking in the SL channel, with force center, the non SL channelers would hear you speaking locally. U know what i mean? Now when you talk over the SL comms, you are silent to others, but thats kinda weird.

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
Yeah, thats good, but you can make it by binding one key to local speech only, and the other one for local speech+force center. It doesn't change the fact I'd like to see it as default setup.

Re: Suggestions for Mumble
If you wanted that you could make it so you have one button for local, and then your SL button would count as a secondary local as well as the SL radio. Thats kinda what you guys mean right?

Yep, I'm using such a system so my boys in the squad know when I'm busy with comms. Makes things a lot easier.gaurd502 wrote:If you wanted that you could make it so you have one button for local, and then your SL button would count as a secondary local as well as the SL radio.
