You might want to start considering a format and reinstall if nothing else works?

Re: [Map] Benghazi (2km) [Concept]
I just reformatted before starting this whole thing, I was having video driver issues so I reformatted, after installing the essentials (software, games) I began downloading the BF2 Editor, Lightmaps etc. So the chances of their being some kind of file corruption are minimal I would think.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:You might want to start considering a format and reinstall if nothing else works?
I am reading a lot of people saying that this is a bug that microsoft is refusing to fix, and is calling it a feature.
But I am sure there are people with 64 Bit Win 7 mapping still, so there has gotta be away around this.

Ye rgr, there is another alternative which is to get another HDD or to partition you current one and install a copy of Win XP (x64 I would if you have a copy) onto that HDD or partition and then when every you want to map, boot up XP instead of Win7.
I know quite a lot of guys who did that with Vista, not so much now with Win7 but still an option you might want to consider?

in effective permissions every single one has to be checked out, you need to make your self owner of folder first and even before that you need to do the permissions in security tab, you have to turn UAC off before doing this and you have to be an administrator i.e. administrator account

Everything checked, on administrator account, UAC was off, did this to my C Drive, and even the map folder. Still the same issue, I am at a loss of what to do here =\karambaitos wrote:in effective permissions every single one has to be checked out, you need to make your self owner of folder first and even before that you need to do the permissions in security tab, you have to turn UAC off before doing this and you have to be an administrator i.e. administrator account

It would be 32 bit, other than memory would there be any other repercussions from it?

Re: [Map] Benghazi (2km) [Concept]
The BF2 editor is only 32bit as well so the only advantage of running 64bit with 4gbs+ ram is that windows and other programs won't delve into the same pool, unless the other programs exceed the extra ram or w/e but even so, this shouldn't be that much of an issue.
I would also recommend running your windows install though nLite first to get rid of all the **** you don't need so that windows is taking up as little memory as possible when its running, which will also help you with mapping
nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation - About
If anything, mapping on XP will be far more stable and quicker than running on Win7

Re: [Map] Benghazi (2km) [Concept]
I have enlisted in the USMC and am awaiting to go to Basic, Oct 4th. Which needless to say is going to have quite an impact on any work on this. I want to say scrap it until further notice. I really do want to get this done, I feel like I could make a great map and take a lot of interest in mapping altogether, but my concerns are elsewhere at the moment, such as getting myself back in shape.
I really do want to make this map though so I wouldn't say its just scrapped, but I will need to pick up at a later time.
A couple weeks back I attempted to get my XP copy on another partition and it was giving me problems, I do not recall exactly the problem but it has not happened yet.

rgr, good luck with the USMC, probably best to focusing on that rather than this, although I understand what you mean with wanting to get this all done after putting a lot of work into planning it out
Cheers!

Re: [Map] Liberation (2km) [WIP]
Few days ago I saw Rebels in tank on news,Reddeath wrote:It should scale down if I am correct? It is big because its the same thing I use as a color map to base my roads/hills/water off of.
I originally intended on MEC vs Insurgents, however I wanted MEC to have 2 Main Battle Tanks, and the Rebels/Insurgents to have 1. This to represent the defective Libyan soldiers in the current day Libya. Insurgents obviously do not have Tanks.
I think that tank was T-55 or T-62.

Are u sure, they have NATO planes in the sky. And probably they throw much more bombs then Gadafi loyalist, they maybe have artilery but their planes where down. ;DReddeath wrote:It should scale down if I am correct? I want MEC to have a JDAM because in reality they have been bombing the rebels, but rebels will not have a JDAM as they don't coordinate any of the UN's air strikes.
I would like to see NATO helping insurgent with airplanes hehe

Just saw this bumped figure I could update, I graduated Marine Corps Recruit Training Friday and am currently on my boot leave, I still have MCT and MOS School to get out of the way, I intend on getting this project going after my training is finished.
