What's the best way to have fun in co-op?

Post by curiousepic »

I love PR and play it online with a friend, but most of my coworkers also sometimes play local BF2 games against each other in the office. I've gotten them to play some PR co-op, and they're interested in it, but co-op play can be wonky sometimes. We've mostly been playing Helmands Return, Al Basrah, and Gaza Beach, all INF, against 6-8 bots of difficulty 50-80. What are the best setups you've found to be fun with a small team (4-6)?

To just have a fragfest I instead do 5-7 friendlys vs 50 bots or whatever the limit is, with low dificulty (30-50)
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

1 vs. 48, with enemy difficulty at 10% or so. Great way to practice shooting.

me and my brother against 32 bots on Lashkar valley, defending German main base.

Anti-Tank squad with 3 of my friends against 10-15 bots on Muttrah city, blowing up BMP's, BTR's T-72's and that little thing always fun :D

I enjoy players vs bots with the following rules:

That people don't get bent out of shape if someone takes an apache or attack helo's without a gunner and in the process tries to tk that player flying it.

no firing in main base

no tking of any kind

checking the map before bombing or firing - you would do this in pvp mode why not do it in coop mode.

letting others try out different weapons/assets.

Shorter spawn times on vehicles and air assets.

Don't just cap all the flags in 15 minutes, have fun, enjoy it.

Don't place fobs directly on flags, the same rules regarding enemy being in distance to flags and fob's applies regards to coop as well.

With a well planned out defence a small number of players can win on most maps. The key is to find a point that's easy to defend while having no ticket bleed. Lashkar Valley is a good example of this as the Germans have no bleed and their main is easy to defend.

A second idea is find a map like Fools Road that can't be lost by the Birtish. Set the number of bots high and your squad can see how much they can cap.

Try to avoid things like fighting the US carrier. The bots will just hover over cap zones in Hueys which are easy to shoot down. However this is only an issue if you cap them back that far, otherwise you'll face nearly endless waves coming from their only shore point (which make those points into a meat grinder).

If i'm ever playing COOP i like to lead a squad of bot minions against a human team. It can lead to great lulz on servers where switching to the bot team is allowed.
