Kozelsk Standard Layout Vehicles

Post by ShockUnitBlack »

Very small suggestion here.

First, I see no need for the Russians to have a Shturm thing as the heaviest vehicle the Militia operates is a BRDM.

Second, I'm unsure why the Russians have a BTR-60 when there's a beautiful BTR-80 model available. Just seems a bit silly.

just because the russian army has got more modern APCs like the BTR-80, that doesn't mean that they retired the older ones.
If I make a grammatical mistake please feel free to send me a PM and correct me. thx

BTR-60 how do not use so much as you thing.BTR-70 - yes,60 -very rare.

Also agree - shturm no needed on this map. Also bad idea to uses engineering vehicles(MT-LB = truck with very small armor and tracks IRL) on this map,BRDMs would be better there.

Yes, but when you think about it how often is the MTLB actually used in a realistic manner? You can really say that with any vehicle with a turret or sorts, but with the MTLB PKT its hardly used for transport on Kozelsk period.

Frankly, the map should simulate a Russian Motor Rifle company (BTR-80's, trucks and BRDM's if applicable) dispatched to take back the facilities seized by the Militia, not a random collection of different Russian assets, as is the present case. Many maps simulate a combined-arms group fighting, like Kashan/Muttrah, but Kozelsk (and Dragonfly for that matter) seems to be all over the place.

Example, whats the point of MTLB's and the BTR-80 (which seem to be intended for transport purposes), if there are three transport trucks? Thats 18 players off the bat, not including squad leaders taking logi trucks. Not pictured are the 2 normal BRDM's on the wharf. Note this is the alternate layer.

The same odd gameplay concept is present on the more often played Standard layer, which has five infantry transport vehicles yet four transport trucks. No offense meant, but I'd like to hear the point of view from the GPO editor to see what their intention was when deciding on these assets.

Well what says Russian wiki about it.
Simple translate - comparison between MTLB and BTR/BMP/BMD is not correct.MTLB developed as logistic vehicle, arty towing tractor or medevac vehicle, not as fighting vehicle.Tracks, light armor and MG is a more plus, thats minus of this vehicle.
Well, tracks makes better off-road characteristics, light armor and MG makes for self defense.

Well I thing recon vehicle would be much better thats AT vehicle.
