re: [Solved] [Win 7] Low Sound?
I have a similar issue it seems. Win 7 32 bit.
When running either BF2 or PR my sound is extremely quiet even from the splash screen, changing sound settings in the options menu does nothing.
Tried a couple of other games, sound is normal for them.
Tried this:
It happens if I run PR alongside TS3, or without TS3. Sound comes across normally on TS while in game.
My sound drivers should be up to date, I just did a clean install of Windows.

- Disallow exclusive control: For your playback (and recording device): right click on speaker icon, select "Playback devices", double click on your sound output device (usually "Speakers") go to advanced, untick "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
- stop automatically reducing volume: in the "Sound" window go to "Communications"-tab and select "do nothing"

Hmm, I don't see any of those particular settings on Wins 7 Karam.
Also, I just tried screwing around in my game Options a bit; if I try to change my resolution it doesn't do anything. The screen flickers black and comes back as if a change has been made, but the resolution stays the same.
So maybe an issue with some profile .con files or something? I don't really know anything about that :/

control panel>sound>playback>double click what ever device you use>enhancements
so you cant make your resolution to go widescreen? or what

Web Cole's explanation should be the correct one. I had the same problem before I switched it off.

You means Karam's I assume? Yeah, I disabled enhancements, still no joy
Tried reinstalling BF2 and PR for the hell of it, still nothing.
EDIT: Not sure about the resolution thing, maybe I was imagining it, I was quite tired

re: [Solved] [Win 7] Low Sound?
as for sound:
start PR/BF2
left click on the speaker icon,
click on "Mixer",
scroll (horizontally) to BF2.exe,
check if that volume is lower then the other levers, raise it
As for resolution switching: you can probably only switch to resolutions that your monitor supports this usally differs depending on which aspect ration you have: List of common resolutions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also skype, and mumble are known to also attenuate sounds - check their options.Pedz wrote:One thing to note is: You MUST have BF2R open to see BF2
R in that mixer. So you will have to alt tab after loading up.

Same process. Or find the little speaker icon on your taskbar, (bottom right normally) Then right click on it and go mixer. (or left click and click "mixer")vangard wrote:thats great new's for the highjacker(Web-cole lol) glad ur problem is sorted.

re: [Solved] [Win 7] Low Sound?
No one has mentioned that with W7 it detects comunication software that is running. It will then reduce the volume of all other software that produces sound so you hear the comunication software teh loudest.
WIN 7
Right click the speaker in the task bar.
Click playback device,
Click communications.
Then select DO NOTHING.
Skype and Mumble are seen as being able to make calls so windows will adjust all other volumes to make them2 the loudest.
