Be nice to the noobs

Post by Gracler »

For my post nr 100 id like to share my 2 c

I cant recall when i started playing PR.... but it is many patches ago ... years ago.... I do remember that when i joined people where very nice to me and helped me in any way to learn to play PR.

Lately I've experienced a lot more hate and frustrations though. There is always someone who knows better than others, and this guy will be spamming the team-chat with stuff like. Why the f..k aren't you guys attacking the flag? who the f..k crashed the helicopter? etc.

Especially the helicopter pilots no matter if they are Transport or Attack will have to eat a lot of BS when they die or accidentally shoot a friendly. It really spoils the fun for everyone when its more like a rule than not that flaming will occur when accidents happen.... and accidents do happen even in real world.

Id like especially the experienced players who knows better to think twice before they flame someone for something, if this accident or whatever happened to themselves once or twice and could it be possible that this guy is new and made an honest mistake or is he a regular *** hat trying to sabotage the team-play? 9/10 times id say the guy didn't mess up on purpose......

Less grumpiness more teamplay and noob friendlyness please!

ps. Also please don't lock your squads all the times and play with your clan or best mates only... sharing your skills with the random people can improve the overall knowledge of the game. A lot of players don't know all the smart tricks that isn't mentioned in the manual.

I tell those people that if they would like tell the team what to do, go commander. Otherwise, keep their mouth shut and play the game.

Usually shuts them up but if it doesn't, an admin can usually sort it out.

People who make teamkills which could have been easily avoided deserve the flaming and hate. If they weren't so incompetent that they made such an idiotic action, they wouldn't cop it.

I've never teamkilled in an attack chopper before, in fact I had my first teamkill in about 3 weeks lastnight on Muttrah, was B/W after being revived and a friendly came up the stairs scoped in. It may sound arrogant but I'm not fucking retarded and have learned how to determine friendlies from enemies. If you can't do that, don't play the game since you're ruining the experience of others.

Even if they are new to the game, if they can't grasp a simple concept they shouldn't be playing.

I think the OP is suggesting a little tact and understanding. That's all. Something we ask from the community with every release, to be frank for exacty this reason. We're aware that it does take away from the gameplay somewhat, and feelings can of course run high when the only method of insertion in some maps are assets that are either new or require prior usage experience.

Some noobs and new people kinda deserve to get dissed. When 0.96 came out, the servers were crawling with them. In my first round yesterday I was friendly fired on like 10 times, 3 of those got me killed after warning the idiot twice that he is shooting at friendly and no apology. Some were so bored that they kept destroying assets at main just for the hell of it and being utter and complete asshats the whole round.

First they download a realism mod and then complain that its slow and boring. Want spray and pray, go play COD FFS.

look if you play the game and happen to team kill someone and get butt hurt cuz some one makes a mean comment about u or to u....then go cry me a big *** river....u refer to mistakes happening in real life....how do you think some u.s. sailors felt after they found out they shot multiple c47s down with approximately 300 82nd paratroopers worth in them, all the while with people yelling at them to cease fire during world war 2 invasion of Italy....think they got told some bad stuff to their face or felt hated, etc..? ...so in other words...DEAL WITH IT, keep playing and get better and most of all be a man and grow a pair....and remember...its just a game that some people take to serious sometimes.

I have nothing against noobishness. I do, however, have something against illogical behavior and people who seem to be disinclined to listen and learn.

No. Do play the game. Just don't pull the trigger.

like others have said there is quite the difference between a lack of common sense and someone who sincerely just messed up, but as you'll find anywhere someone will give you a bit of a cop and you'll just have to grin and bear it, I mean as an optimist you can consider whatever they're saying will stick with you and you might not make the same mistake again for fear of such heresay bullying ;)

That right there is a type of behaviour that is far worse than forgeting to check your map for friendlies. The best way to promote teamwork is to know your team, and you can't know someone if you never even speak to them. Since this is a team game you have to play well with others regardless of whether you want to play with them. Think about it for a minute, if you never risk meeting new players you might miss out on making new friends.

Honestly I generally only play PR these days in a locked squad with people I know, just get too frustrated or disappointed otherwise. That said if someone on the team makes a mistake I can't stand the people that begin shouting and flaming them, it's just not worth it, everyone makes a mistake at some point and a little more understanding wouldn't go a miss

Never read the manual personally but then again I joined the game with a group of people I knew and we all progressed through the game together, the manual's not for everyone and there are other ways of learning the game and trial and error is generally the most fun way, afterall guys this is a game, some people need to try and remember that

Rated thread with 5 stars

we should all be friendlier to eachother anyway, but to the n00bs we should be expecially friendly - a friendly word and a guiding hand.

n00bs are just friends you aint met yet :P

mostly anyway.... :D

My biggest problem with "noobs", is that they almost never talk. When they do, they tell me what the problem is, so I can help them. But most of the times, they don't tell you...

I agree with you in the first part, Gracler.

However, I do believe getting abused and ridiculed for team killing serves a purpose, even though it may sound somewhat harsh. In reality people gets court-martialled if they are committing friendly fire in the heat of battle, even though it might have been unintentional.

Back in some of the early PR releases, I once accidentally team killed a whole squad as a Black Hawk chopper pilot, by crashing it into a tree when I tried to land - the squad lost a HAT among other important kits. The amount of hate I got for that incident made me quit the server in sheer embarrassment and shame - and I promised myself never to try to insert a single soldier again before I was 120% capable of landing a chopper on whatever surface and in any terrain I would encounter.

Since then I've never crashed a fully loaded chopper again (although I may have been shot down... but that doesn't count, hehe :) ).

I think the thought of seeing ones name in the top left corner followed by a cascade of foul words coming your way makes people afraid of team killing and makes them think for an extra second before pressing that trigger.

Mistakes have consequences. So basically, if you fuck somebody up, expect and accept the punishment, apologize and move on with your life/game. Perhaps sing a little lullaby to calm the embarrassment ;)

Yes, if the new guy doesn't seem to pick up any guidance, then it could be waste of time. But players that came from VBF2 might need to realise that PR is seriouzz buizznesss, and then they will adapt and become valuable players.

As for Helicopter pilots who transport a full squad that already picked a lot of valuable kits for a "risky" travel. Before they start flaming the pilot to hell they should have considered the alternative which could have been walking through the open desert for 15 min being exposed to all kinds of threats...... The fact that they get mad is that it was an act by someone else that got them killed and then they can aim there anger on that person in order to vent.

Your stuck with the anger if its your own action that gets you killed....like missing a ladder or rope :-x it looks stupid to blaim a rope on teamchat :p

my 2 c:

imagine if you are new to a bf2 mod. imagine what you are most likely used to - joining a server and start playing.
imo there should be some sort of reminder in online mode that reminds new people of learning things before trying them on real servers.
but on the other hand i dont understand those noobs who just join and think they could take a heli and could easily fly away.... i mean its called project REALITY . . .

Join his squad or type "PlayerX join a co-op server to practice how to fly and then come back here. Helicopters cost a lot of tickets.

If he takes another chopper the admin should warn him by reassigning him or if he already recived a warning he should be kicked with the message to go practice on co-op.

yeah course, and i do this when i see some noob taking a chopper, but id really like to prevent this, because kicking thema fter that doesnt bring the tickets and the asset back :/
