My names Tom and i am 14 ( This is where the trolling starts... ). I am here to ask if this mod is really worth playing for me because i feel like i wont be accepted because of my age, on other games people complain about me not being old enough to actually play games, even though the pegi ratings are only guidelines for parents to see if they want their child to play a certain game.

So would i be accepted into the community? I am a very active gamer and i think tactically.

PR requires alot of patience. It can be slow at times but very exciting when the momentum builds. Thats why its called Project REALITY. If you think its anything like COD or any other spray and pray you shouldn't play it, period!
Just read the manual, play CO-OP before you join a deployment server if you dont want to go through all that then join a teamwork squad with a mic and pick a rifleman kit and ask other players to help you out with understanding the battlefield. Most are happy to help out new people that are genuinely interested at learning about this beast mod. Because alot of people download it these days and then complain why is it so slow.

play with maturity and your actual age won't really matter, though a few players will prefer to play with older players; please don't feel insulted by this there are a wide spectrum of reasons for that.

The fact that you took the time to register on the forums and ask before just jumping in pretty much closes the case on this.

I will run with you anytime, definitely try out Co-op first. I have a Mumble server (regular Mumble, not PR Edition Mumble that gets installed with PR) at Welcome page, we are a small group that has been together for the last 13 or so years. Some of them are really experienced (I am newb to PR and didn't play much BF2 for that matter). Feel free to stop by anytime!

There is a ton of good info on the forums here, and be sure to read the server rules (each server has different rules) before you do too much damage.

NwA UK is an awesome server with an awesome team. You will probably have a great connection to it! (I have a solid connection from the middle of the US).

(PS: Definitely get some headphones (with a mic) if you don't have any... the language can get quite colorful)

Its not about age, its about the mindset. Usually 10 year olds have the COD mindset and arent really into teamwork. All kinds of different people have differently pitched voices, when i started pr around when I was 14 some people thought I was in my 30's. But its about how you play. Anyone can be a smacktard

been playing since i was about your age.. (probably a bit older) am 20 now and still playing, feeling as much accepted as years ago. Conclusion.. age doesnt matter

Welcome to PR, Age dosnt matter its how you play the game that counts, as others have said. If you dont know something ask.

Stop by any server and if you have the right approach to the game other players will teach you alot. Tarra is quite young and he well respected on our server. He sounds about 6 tbh only joking Tarra.

Show patience. Especially if you sound very young, you'd best make sure that what you say is mature enough for people to ignore your voice. If your voice isn't high pitched, and you're a mature person, then you won't have any problem at all.

You can always change squads / server if people dislike anything about you, of course.

Exactly It's pretty cool when you run into a person or two that you have talked (not just randomly posted together) on the forums.

For example, once I had a declaration of love while playing the game Someone wrote "BillSL <3" (my in-game name) on all chat.

If you can see past the dated engine and graphics, this is the best online shooter for anyone who enjoys team-play and realism (As the name suggests). The PR developers are constantly striving to provide better support, and content while some big name developers often sweep issues under the rug and start onto the next "big thing". The mod has been around long enough that it's basically an entirely new game, and the scale is just bigger and better then what we are seeing even today.

People may poke fun at you because of your voice, but if you're a good player and someone your squad can rely on that won't matter.

This is the one thing no one here can teach you, and it's the divider between PR players and COD arcadey ones. Everything else about PR you will learn through experience, and don't be discouraged by the learning curve.

When first starting PR it's very important to listen to your squad leader. You are new so you don't know what you are doing. So follow your squad listen to what they tell you to do. And once you get into your role. That's when the fun begins.
And before long you'll be like holy shit this is like real war. We are a unit we work together we make jokes about stuff. We are united and we rock.
Like everyone else said get the basics right hence be a rifleman if you want to snipe. I know everyone does try it out on Co-op and stay away from the expensive assests like jets. I personally am a pretty decent pilot and even then i stay away from the jets on Deployment servers.

trust me mate you'll love it. Think like a solider be like a solider.

This. It's so important.

Through my experience I realized that a kid, no matter how mature he might be in-game, if he gets too excited and talks too much, then members in the squad will find it annoying.

So keep it short and go along. This might help your adaptation. Ofc, ask help for your SL and let him know you're new.

Mmh, when I started playing PR i was 15 and everyone welcomed me well. You'll get to know the PR community soon enough and see that they will help you no matter your age.

Hell yes!!, welcome to PR!!
First of all, read the PR, manual (like other people sugested already), it teaches you every thing you need to know, and saves your squad leader alot of time.

Then get mic, its very important, in PR for example,if your the driver of an APC , you gunner needs you to report any bombcars. Lets say one is heading to you, when your halfway through saying "BOMBCAR" he will get you!!

And finnaly, join a clan, check the BF2 R clan section, and choose the clan that fits you the most, there are realism clans (wich use almost real life tactics), normal clan (wich just play the game for the l0lz) and mid realism clans (wich can play for the l0lz, and play serious).

So yeah, those are my 2 cents, and WELCOME!!
