As a gunner you rely on your driver to keep you aware of everything in your immediate vicinity. On the other hand as a driver it's your job to know everything that is going on around you, and have a good idea of what the enemy threats are up to. Otherwise you will just tumble out into the open and get slaughtered every time because you're a big loud attention magnet asking to get blow to smithereens.

Move from safety of cover to safety of cover ALWAYS, never get caught moving on open grounds, and always try to stay oriented towards the enemy but just behind a ridge/in a depression/in some kind of cover. It's actually not all that different from being an infantryman that has to rely on his buddy to shoot or walk for him, so you need a good reliable driver to be the ears and eyes of a tank which can make it a lot more difficult to play then infantry.

I personally find people do not listen enough, you can hear fairly far distances in this game, especially in built up areas.

I'd estimate that situational aware accounts for roughly 75% of all of my kills as inf, and damn near 100% of my kills as a tank gunner. It's an aspect of the game a lot of new players overlook due to lack of patience and over-eagerness to get into a fight.

My SA is average/above-average - I can tell vehicle types by sound and while I can't tell the difference between every AFV I am always aware of the disparity in vehicle types for a given map (i.e., if you hear an MBT on Fool's Road it ain't British) , I use the map a lot, and I generally know who is where, but I when I am excited-newbrecruit style, I have been known to light up a friendly from super long range with open sights. This almost always happens when someone has randomly broken from cover and has run close to enemy infantry I have already designated as targets.

I am still very much learning the maps however, so when I say average/above average that is overall experience from the USMC Infantry and other tactical games, not pure PR experience, so downgrade as warranted based on the map.

I polled GOD LIKE as I can squad lead, organise the team on mumble SL channel. Run a 3 ship APC squad supplies, troop movments etc etc. While admining 64 players with asset stealing , team killing , and team balance of player loading in so no one gets auto switched and disrupted from there squad.

Although using thermals im a complete noob and any thing holding a weapon is going down. I prefer to drive.

Its all subjective.

But thats just me. ;-)

God-like

I play alot of FH2 and when tanking and flying I always have an acute hearing for other engines and it gets so bad sometimes that I even freak out when I hear the birds fly off because it almost sounds as if the enemy shut off the engine (when in a tank that is)

I must say I have Godlike. How? One simple word, experience. My tips. Use the map alot and don't talk much in voice, listen more to the sound of what's going on around you. And speak when needed. You see, there's alot of players that get's too tangled up in voice and get's too focused on what the squadleader is saying wich results in situation were you and your squad mates gets suprised and killed because of the lack of self awareness. Listen to you Squadleader but keep your focus on your self awareness. The map. A perfect tool, use it alot when advancing with squad or tank, this way you know for 100% that whatever moves infront of you is enemy, so you will get the first reflex. Awareness is the first thing you should think about. Always keep building up scenarious in your head of what can happen so you know how to stand and how to react to not get shot. Importent as a medic. Forward planning is importent.

for me, I feel that the situational awareness of a group can be quite good, with the proper amount of teamwork and communication. But on an individual level I think situational awareness is lacking. I admit I'm a big Arma fan, and i like some of the things they implemented into the game to improve individual situational awareness, such as the small colored dots on the sides of your screen, or the 'look around' feature. I am aware that some of these features may not be implemented in PR due to coding issues, but it would be nice if players (especially us newbies) were given a little bit of help. Because in reality video game perspective is drastically less than real world human perspective.
Just my thoughts on the matter

God-like.
One reason- My squadleader told me to get inside the truck he was driving with the rest of the squad. I said no, since I knew we'd all die. Laughing, he drives off, getting killed within 20 seconds.

Another reason- I'm sitting next to my squad leader (in front of him) with a HAT kit. I sense someone was aiming at me and took a shot at me. I prone dive with my HAT still loading and hear the squad leader die. He rages while I laugh.

In PR I've learned that what can happen mostly likely will happen.

Couple weeks ago I was in a squad with friends and we had just finished building a FOB and one of us said to another "watch a CAS take us all out" we all laughed and then... you guessed it. Boom!

Tactical Gamer was an Excellent Server. Yeah that's right, I said that, go a head and BAN ME from your server now!
