Trans Heli armour values

Post by Mikemonster »

Hello, just wondered, can anyone tell me how much the heli armour has been decreased? (From [n] and to [n]).

Cheers.

Seems the BH have a lot of it. We hit a flying BH with 2 AA missiles and a SPG-FRAG and it didn't even started to smoke. For some reason the attack helicopters are the easiest to kill with AA.

Two direct hits with AA and a FRAG from an SPG is a 100% kill. You cannot have done that.
The CAS choppers are the easiest to kill because they are not as strong as transport choppers. If they were, they would've been overpowered.

Well, before BH could take bombcar exploding right next to its tail
RPG to the tail

Both with light smoke.
So I suppose it still haves lots of armor left.

Armour value is not the same as health? It might only mean that small arms fire can now hurt it more, while overall punishment endurance stayed the same.

That's a good point, thanks for the input. It's just getting a bit tedious now. If the enemy don't have a CAS chopper there's almost no point in AA (the small benefit is that it 'deters' the enemy Trans pilots, but to be honest the good ones fly despite it). It seems effective against enemy CAS though (as long as they fly rather foolishly). The fact that Trans helis now have more flares seems to compound this - in theory how long does it take to dispense all the flares?

There's no such thing as landing then advancing to contact. instead you just get the pilot fly into the battle and land you behind cover/in dead ground with a crate. Then you can get a FOB up in cover [if needed] or you can just HATspam the enemy FOB from there.

Edit: Can any dev's give a little more insight into 'Armor values for helicopters lowered' means?

I know for sure we hit it with 2 AA. My friend also said he hit it with a spg-frag and I have no reason to not believe him. However that spg-frag might been bugged and the hit not registering, who knows, it's BF2 after all.

Anyway, I think the 2 AA missiles should have been enough to at least disable it's engine forcing it to do an emergency landing. but it didn't even started to smoke.

I'm sorry, but I'm having problems believing this. If the server you were playing on has Battlerecorder, you should check it out.

I'm just saying what happened from my point of view, it's up to you if you want to believe me or not, I won't force you to believe me ;)

But as I said, some hit's might have been bugged, it's not uncommon in BF2, especially with explosive weapons, to do zero damage even on a direct hit. I guess time will tell if the blackhawks are to tough to kill or not with AA.
