Map mean nothing rounds mean nothing?

Post by snipurs »

Ok now we all know that bf2 will all be about teamwork ok thats aswome cant wait to play it, but what about the maps? Sure winning is cool but to me it has NO meaning what so ever its all about getting kills still and no real evidence that your team kicked some *** that map. So i was thinking (in the shower dont ask..) and well how about this

All maps are some how connected. When you win on a map it dictates what will happen on another map. example you would be your fighing in a oil depot or a area that would give you air stripes or heli repair or weapons or w/e when the next map happens last maps either makes it easyer or harder.

let me try and explain it furthor with a better example. If you mec forces jobs are to protect on a map that has weapon storeage then they must not loose it cause if they do next map the classes well be some what gimmped. or the ammo might be gimmped or granades be shortened.

my feel that i want is that when i win a map or loose a map that i know its gonna either be a harder next map or worse since this is war and what you do in war is take over things that have strategic importance. The war isnt fought on some place that means really nothing(well some times but saying) "most" of the time places or taken or gaurded that are of value. example could be the airport in iraq i forget the war either gulf or iraqy freedom where paratroopers took a air stripe or somthing like that.

That would mean a linear game play where one map follows another. That is not BF game play where a server can run any map for any reason, not because A happened therefore B must happen. Far too linear for many players, but a good idea.

What you are describing is what happens in Tournaments now. If one side looses a battle, the loose that territory, loose a piece of real estate and if they keep being defeated, they loose the Campaign. Realistically (no pun intended) I think this is as close as you're going to get to linear game play.

I do like the idea, but doubt it will happen, if its even possible. Would be pretty nice tho, take Basrash Edge for example, for coalition to win that round, then the next map is some kind of Central Basrah, and if Iraqi win their, they push them back to the Edge. Would be rather neat, but still somewhat linear.

i think an easier way to do this is whoever wins the previous round on the next round starts out with all the flags being capped on there for there team

This was an idea BFV had early in development but never got to work.

IF your team loses Hue 1968, then the next map is Hue... whatever the next year, but you have less flags.

I like proggression like this, itd just be hard to make the map playable with this.

Maybe something more like:

Since the US were able to capture the local refinery, MEC forces were unable to get fuel to thier vehicles, leaving them short handed in terms of operational vehicles.

So the next map is whatever map, but the MEC start with less tanks and vehicles, but more defensive positions or soemthing, you got to even it out somehow (not tottaly even it out, then there is not penalty for losing, but the difference between winning and losing cant make the loser in an impossible situation next map.

Yeah, BF:V had something like this. But this is something more for tournaments. This would be a lot of work, if it is even possible. Because each map would need to have a sequence into every other map, if designed to work globaly and to allow servers to run maps in the order they like. However if done like in BF:V where you have certain day/night maps it could be fun. IE you fight one map, time runs out and you switch to the same map at night and start with a few less vehicles and the flags are the way they were on the previous map. Or you could go by days, kinda like NFZ day 1/2 in DC.

If the levels get harder and hardrer the more you fail your mission then your chances of getting back on track will not be good.
