the idea with the handgrenades isnt bad, there should be a way to work it out, but its pretty performance intensive.

i had a simular problem with creating canister rounds for tanks (kinda a 120mm shotgun).

Yeah, it's been in my mind for a while (the shrapnel thing) but never posted it here myself. It should be at least experimented with to see how much strain it puts on the server / client.

My problem is I don't have a clue how to do that or where to start :S

edit: hulabi, 60 rounds simultaneously

Aye. Big amounts of bullets fired simultaneously lags the shit. We were once goofing around with 20 guys firing at the same time. Didnt go to well for the server. So theres a big chance for 60 rounds cause a lag spike

Try less projectiles but with a bigger col? Less pellets but each pellet has a size of say 3 pellets?

Yeah, will have to experiment. I've seen more than 20 people fire on automatic at the same time and server being just fine though, maybe it's a bit different.

Well that's one way to work around it, but you can't multiply infinitely small with three, bullets are just points in PR.

Still, I have no clue where to start from :| Maybe someone with knowledge could give me a hint?

Well, I don't want to spoil a try, but if it's quite performance intensive then it should be forgotten. PR is already quite harsh to older computer configurations. But if it isn't... HELL YEAH!

Have to say: Will "Basic PR-player" note a difference between this and the current version of grenade explosion and the damage?

Feels bad to be this negative.

No-one knows whether it'll be too performance intensive or not, but if it is it would probably only strain the server and not the player directly, but that might cause lag for the player too. That's why we need to try it!

Basic PR-player would definately notice the difference unless he or she is completely blind and deaf. If we could actually get the grenade to shoot projectiles, you could see and hear where they hit, and also you might get wounded or killed by them.
