Ionic cooling - future standard?

So I was surfing the waves of the interwebs and stumbled upon this very intriguing technology.

So naturally, I googled it and read a few articles and I must say that this might revolutionize the way we cool our machines.

Supposedly it uses two electrodes to move air molecules between them and create a slight breeze in the process.

My evaluation of this:

Pros:
- Zero noise
- Less power consumption (?)
- longer lifespan
- more customisable airflow

Cons:
- Might be expensive as all new technologies
- Less powerful airflow (?)

So I would like to know what you think about it.

This doesn't sound safe to use in a computer. If the air has a higher charge than normal it could zap the electronics in the computer and destroy it.

That's why its still in experimental stage. Tho I would guess most electronics have a safety cover against interference.

I can see how this would work fine in an enclosed environment around only the CPU heatsink but to cool other components like the GPU, memory, and motherboard bridges you will need something more. All of those parts besides the CPU have exposed circuitry and are therefore at risk of being shocked.

Phase change is not ionic...

Correct me if im wrong, but phase changing is pretty much a refrigerator instead of water cooling? But more expensive(than a fridge) by the looks of things.. But Tbh ionic cooling is probably too low power for the money to do it on a mass scale. Fans + Heat pipes do a good enough job =], just need larger fan holes so you can have quieter fans , although water cooling will pretty much cover anything high powered.
