Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
basically with player numbers as limited as they are, a 128 player server will threaten the player count of numerous other servers. as servers cost money this would mean quite a substantial financial loss for server owners who are doing this for free anyway.
which makes sense because frankly if the SISU server was up all the time it would be the ONLY server i will ever play on (and i wish it was).
the big problem i see is while the SISU 128 server threatens other servers, it is IMO the pinnacle of what PR should be, with strict mumble enforcement and usage of assets making for some of the best large scale teamwork ive ever seen in a videogame. such brilliance while detrimental to the existance of other server communities will bring in new players in droves and will keep PR alive and healthy even with the leviathan of BF3 looming on the horizon.
limiting this server will simply harm PR in the long run even if it is the right thing to do.

Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
Just a quick question. Wasn't it the UKWF people who whined and complained about people not joining their server? And hasn't that same UKWF server not been active on PR for quite some time now?
IMO it's clans like that (and others that are still around in PR) that I feel have pushed their own agendas in-server and mediated the game using admin powers to their advantage....Not really how the game should be played. Not gonna name any servers/clans, you guys already know who they are.
Just a shame that the 128 server is limited, as you guys have said, it is the pinnacle of PR play. And having been in an organized (sort of) 128 man scrimmage, it really is an experience I miss.

Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
main issues is still finding a balance of players versus lag on maps... ie: shija valley is not working too great with 128p so need to make sure future 4km maps do not go over budget on resources/detail so it doesnt lag for 128 players.
also the 128 player name tag isssue is still a big problem thats being worked on, if that can be cracked then i think we will be very much closer to allowing more server running 128 on a 24/7 basis
trust me, i think 128 is also the future of PR and as long as the issues can be solved, i think this is the direction PR is headed, especially with new games coming out that dont support more than 64 players, PR:BF2 will remain truly unique and massive and will guarantee a long life after these games have been released, got played, and then dropped for the next "big thing";

Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
Let me start off with the following qualifications;
I am a server moderator for the BigD (Australian) Servers. I think due to our isolation by distance we aren't as affected as much as US / European servers due to pings giving us virtually a monopoly of the player base in our region regardless.
Would I love to see >64 players on our server - you bet !
I have never successfully joined the server, so can't comment on gameplay.

The argument about limiting the number of hours is moot - the Devs have decided this for their own reasons and I can't see their decision being swayed by glib comments.
If people really want to effect change and see 128p servers permanently I think the focus needs to change from qq to 'what can I do to help'.
Blaming other server admins for holding back PR is not 100% correct imo. Yes they may be trying to protect their investment - but is that really unfair?
TLDR: Focus on the things you can change and trust in the PR Management team - they've done a bloody good job growing this mod to date don't you think

I think one of the main issues is lack of North American admins. Every time to 128 server is up, be it on a different mod Im always on it and the lack of admins can disrupt gameplay when people are asshatting.

You cant rly call providing gameserver as investment. You wont get any of your money back if you are providing server to the community.IINoddyII wrote: Blaming other server admins for holding back PR is not 100% correct imo. Anyway this thread is reserved for the feedback of sisu server. Discussion about how many hours sisu is running in PR is not a thing what PR community can affect when it passes 48h per week.

Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
Request for future testing run:
-Squad size 13 members.
-Normal ingame kit system for first allocated kits (two members for first specialty kits, medic and officer, then four for first infantry kits).
-Second Infantry kits permitted at 8 squad members.
-Second specialty kits and third automatic rifleman kits permitted at 12 squad members.
I've been chomping at the bit to experiment with squads possessing three four-man teams, and I think this could be doable in a public setting. A perfect world would be 18 man, with four fireteams, platoon leader and platoon sergeant, but that's a little overkill for just 128 players.
I'll chip in a server donation some time.

Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
Jafar, keep in mind that it requires a lot from the squad leader and the three fireteam leaders to be able to keep a 13 man squad. I personally don't think this can be implemented on a public server like the 128 server might be in the future.Jafar Ironclad wrote:Request for future testing run:

I agree that it requires a lot from squad leaders and the players they select for NCO roles. Squad leaders who want to restrict the number of folks they want to lead at a time can lock their squad at the given number. I'd like at least for the capability for large squads to be there.

Re: 128 Player TEST Sisu (Europe)
I'm really annoyed how the server has no active US/CAN admins and I have to put up with teamkillers. Where can I apply for admin or something? It seems there are no admins on at any given moment and want to help.
