Description:
Both the merlin and the lynx are barely hearable even at 100m distance. this applies to 3 of 3 matches playe on Al Basrah throughout the whole rounds.
I hope this is a bug and can be fixed easily, because it greatly affects the gameplay and balance on this map, and additionally destroys the atmosphere.
Steps to Reproduce:
Join Al Basrah and watch the ninja helis sneak around you.

They did change the helicopters to make it so they produce less sound at distance to help them live, but I agree with it being too much- I'm only 500m away from a heli and I can't hear it at all, even with my good headphones.

this has nothing to do with headphones at all.
If i remember correctly this bug does only appear on Al Basrah, I played some rounds on Shija Valley and I didnt notice any anormality with the british helicopters.

Iv reported this, and a dev gave me an answer to basically check if i was making this up. Glad Im not the only one who is seeing this as a problem.
Iv had the merlin basically do a stealth drop less than 100m right behind me, and I only noticed when i turned around to see it take off after already landing and dropping off a whole enemy squad of trigger happy fools fixated on me.
Tested on Hardcore server for me, Al basrah.

I have identified the problem
we use an automated script to generate teh 'sounddistances.con' which we use to change teh sound radii in accodance with view distances in an effort to decrease sound bugs etc.
Basrah uses 2 VDs, so teh sounddistances.con was only generated for the shorter VD.
We put up the poll regarding performance as it would be simplier for us to change the overall VD to that of the 32 layer than to mess around getting a second sounddistance.con (if thats even gonna work between layers, sounds are strange)

tl;dr: We don't want to generate another separate file for the same map due to some performance issues, it's a feature, not a bug.
