Transferring Battlefield 2 (with PR of course!) via USB?

Post by whathe12 »

If I transfer battlefield 2 or the entire directory in program files (x86) that contains battlefield 2 and project reality via USB, ( I have 32 gb on it), would the files go corrupt or would it work just as it would on my computer?

BTW, I'm transferring it to my brothers gaming computer since mine failed.

I believe it would probably still work fine, assuming you load up VBF2 first so it can create all the save folders and profiles etc... ( I guess this is to save installation time?)

If it doesn't work, transferring the install files will 100% work =].

I think it's not going to be that easy. You will lose your registry entries by just moving folders.

It will be much easier if you just go and get installers.

In hard way you would make a registry file which would create new registry entries for other PCs. etc... Just... Don't...

I believe most programs are now capable of recreating the registries on startup, however CD key problems may occur....

Yeah, you will probably have to re-enter your CD-key again. I moved my BF2 folder once from one drive to another, re-installed Windows and it worked like a charm, only had to re-enter the CD-key.

If that's the case, then give it a shot.
I'm not expecting BF2 itself to do any miracles with registries.

I am still recommending you to do clean install, but it could be worth of testing at least. :)
Good luck.

You could export the BF2 part of your registry and load it on the other PC, see if it works.

But installing it is much easier ;) .
