OFFICIAL Response to recent events
Firstly we are sure the PR Community all agree with the decision we have made, and that this is being created for the PR Minded Community.
If you are not aware, PR: ARMA2 is something that is a bit of a shock to the ARMA community, as in a way its a new concept. The way their community works, is by sharing and mixing up all their addons to suit their own style ........ which is fine, and is a very good way for them to do business, however for PR this does not suit our aims:
The current problem with Public ARMA MP, is simply that - too many servers using a number of varied Mods / addons on Public Servers, making the casual gamer become confused.
This is one of the reasons PR: ARMA2 came about to try to eleveate this.
We are trying a concept to see if it works in reviving Public ARMA MP, allowing one place where people know they can enjoy, simple, effective MP Gameplay.
Lets be fair it may totally fail, and not be suited to ARMA at all.
There are 100's of Mods to choose from in the ARMA Community which is great, and this is just one of many. Until we try it NONE of us will ever know if it does improve Public ARMA MP Gameplay or not.
A lot of people can not grasp the concept of PR "Controlling" the Mod, and its reasons. It is not snobbery or elitism - it is purely to ensure PR remains as it was designed, which in turn is what will improve the ARMA Gameplay (The whole point).
To ensure you have good gameplay, like BF2, you have to put in various controls and functions that gently "enforce" players to act in a certain way ........ this is what makes the teamwork in PR actually work, and why non "controlled" mods/servers fail to hold a consistent player base on PUBLIC Servers. (Note I am not talking about locked down Clan / Community / Private servers).
Public servers are our aim, as it is these that are hard to populate consistently.
If PR: ARMA2 can populate and run 4-5 of our official servers consistently we have achieved our aim.
Lets be fair it's all about choices, the more there is the better it is for everyone really - no need for any hostility between communities, and I know some of the ARMA Community fully support PR in its work.
A decision was made yesterday by myself to provide all updates & information on PR: ARMA2 on this site only now, as it is not in PR's interest to cause such hostilities on another communities forum.
The whole team are looking forward to this release, to let you guys BETA test the build, providing us with constructive feedback. (Also so we can all have a few weeks downtime)
