Running 64 Bit W7, problems dl'ing BF2 patches

I try to dl the 1.41 patch. I get an error that the bf2_patch_1.41.exe can't run on a 64 bit OS. The top bar says '16 bit' and looking around on forums further pushes my idea that the patch is 16 bit. This is odd because I had PR running w/ Mumble w/ 0 problems (no punkbuster problems either) until the .97 patch which caused CTD. I decided to re-install it all and now can't install the patches.

Where did you get the patch from? Are you running it from a local disk and not a usb?

I dl'd the 1.41 from 2 different sources. largeplay.ea.com and fileplay.net.
Running what from a local disk? BF2? Nothing is being run from a usb...

Running the Update from anything but the same disk as bf2... the files are easily corrupted traveling from disk to disk but I guess we can rule that out.

And obviously your installing as admin...

If that doesn't work try clicking, troubleshoot compatibility.

It's crazy because I've had a lot of problems with windows7 ult, 64....but not this.

I remembered some more info on my problem. After getting the notice about the patch installer not being able to run on a 64 bit OS, the installer runs. But when I open BF2 and check if the patch actually installed, the BF2 version changes from 1.03 to 1.22... more specifically on the home screen in BF2 is said (1.2.2....[list of #s]). It seems as if the patch worked but didn't patch up to 1.4?

More info: Because the 1.41 patch installer seemed to run fine I tried to install 1.5. When I clicked on that installer to start I got the Windows 'warning this is not a verified publisher', I click 'yes' or whatever and then nothing happens. I waited over 3 hours for the installer to open. Nothing

also I have found people are saying make sure you have no other programs running for corruptions purposes. your not supposed to have to use compatibility settings for the patches just admin so try and do that first before you try compatibility.

Dl'd from fileplanet which is where I've dl'd in the past.
I'm considering re installing my OS unless someone has any other suggestions.
