CTD on loading certain maps

Every patch release at least once somewhere down the line I get this problem where my game CTDs when I load to particular maps. Before it was an issue with one map, now its an issue with two maps....

I have cleared my bf2 cache, and i have turned off compatibility mode, and id like to play without turning my textures to medium.

The only way to fix it before is to completely re-install the game, but you all know that is a huge pain in the ***. Especially since i have the 5 disc version.... ugh...

It crashes on Karbala for christs sake... that's not intensive at all.. and Fallujah West, which i guess is a little bit intensive. I ran a monitor scan to see what my ram usage is like but it never even reaches half....

i am running a windows 7 64bit version
6GB of RAM running in triple memory
GTX480
i7 920 OC'd
etc n so forth. My PC is not struggling with this game...


Any suggestions on what I can do before i give up and have to re-install everything?

PS: On karbala it crashed on 62% Geometries i believe after i cleared the cache.

are you running as administer? Are you running in compatibility mode?
It could be related to your graphics card, check if your drivers are updated and if you have any W7 updates to install.

perhaps you don't have to re install BF2, you could just re install PR - make sure you get rid of PR first

Try running BF2 cleaner to clear your video cards cache as well.

PS Does your game run fine with medium texture settings?

iv reinstalled PR because everything else was not working, seemed to have fixed the issue... Still a pain in the arse to do this everytime Im going to get this problem... You can lock this, thank you.

i also have a problem and it weirdly started occuring somewhere in the middle of 0957.
i crash it when i click deployment(after the loading has finishd)
i crash all insurgency maps except fallujah and al basrah coop

^I once had the same problem, reinstalled PR, BF2, after installing BF2 i restarted when the installer prompted, before i completely removed BF2 and anything to do with it (even punkbuster), after i installed patches and PR, and left the PC to install didnt open anything else apart form the installers, updated pb via pb update.
(everything running as admin)
after that it fixed its self
you could also try redownloading the files and the reinstall.
