Fraps - Multiple push to talk keys
Right,
I have an, annoyance.
Ive been recording a lot of rounds lately. But the noises i make when im not talking were starting to bother me. They are distracting. So i enabled the Only capture audio when pusching [Mouse4] (my default push to talk mumble key).
But, as we all know. Project Reality players often use more keys to talk to people.
- The key for ingame Voip.
- The push to talk key for mumble
- The Squad Leader radio key
Thats 3 keys, and only one triggers my microphone being captured by Fraps. I can fix the Ingame Voip issue by pressing both mouse buttons that i have set for Squad ingame and Mumble. But it's still annoying for people ingame to hear me talk on mumble AND on ingame voip when standing next to me.
So, here is my question;
Is there a way too set multiple keys that capture my audio?
- Maybe by going into the settings file of fraps (But, i can not find that file)
- A program where i can map multiple keys to one key that will still keep the original keys working. (without turning 3 keys into one key)
greets,

I was wondering about this too. The only thing I can think of is a program that allows you to set multiple hotkeys for mic input and then capture the output of that program and direct it at Fraps somehow... I have no idea where you would find something like that.

If you fiddle around with the "StereoMix" setting, maybe you can find a value that records your voice but not "ambient" sounds? Just a thought.

Re: Fraps - Multiple push to talk keys
My brother and I coded up a MicMuter in AutoIt for Windows 7. Basically it uses a config ini and mutes your microphone completely unless any of the specified buttons are pressed. It worked brilliantly, and was created for exactly your purpose. Unfortunately though, I have now moved to Japan and I don't have it any more
It's very easy to do though... within a couple of days of picking up AutoIt you should be able to code something up very similar. Undoubtedly you could do the same thing with other languages too but AutoIt was very, very easy to work with.

Yeah, i already sent them a mail. But haven't gotten anything back.BloodyDeed wrote:Im also interested in a solution to this, as I like the new fraps function.
Maybe we can contact the developers, shouldnt be hard to implement...
And i doubt it'll actually get read by someone who can do something about it.
Now THAT's an idea. I might look into that.Psyrus wrote:My brother and I coded up a MicMuter in AutoIt for Windows 7. Hey guys, got some news.
The fraps developer actually answered my mail

Thanks for your feedback. At this time we do not have any plans to add support for multiple hotkeys for enabling audio capture from the external input in Fraps. However, I will certainly forward your suggestion on to our developers for consideration in the future.

Re: Fraps - Multiple push to talk keys
Funny thing that I sent an email asking the same thing in March when the hotkey feature was added and I got a similar response.
Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately at this time we do not have any plans to include support for multiple hotkeys for triggering the new push to talk feature in Fraps, however I will certainly forward your suggestion on to our developers for consideration in a future release.

Re: Fraps - Multiple push to talk keys
I've been thinking this aswell, same thoughts as OP...
Examble, bind every voip key to F12 and when you press B or other key, it would register as B and F12, so you could still type. Then just bind F12 to fraps voip key. Just need to find it.
Find thiskinda program and voila there we go.0blivi0us wrote: - A program where i can map multiple keys to one key that will still keep the original keys working. (without turning 3 keys into one key)

Seriously, it won't be *that* hard to do, and you'll have an awesome sense of satisfaction once it's done
Here's some pseudocode to get you started:
Code: Select all
if(keypressed = BTN1 || BTN2 || BTN3 || BTN...n)
if(Check for BF2 process)
send //frapsRecordSoundBTN//

Re: Fraps - Multiple push to talk keys
Currently using autohotkey to toggle F12 when I press B or V. In the script, it also checks for Ctrl-B/V and Shift-B/V.
Here's the script in its simple, crude form.
~b::Send {F12 DOWN}
~b UP:: Send {F12 UP}
~v::Send {F12 DOWN}
~v UP:: Send {F12 UP}
~^b::Send {F12 DOWN}
~^b UP:: Send {F12 UP}
~^v::Send {F12 DOWN}
~^v UP:: Send {F12 UP}
~+b::Send {F12 DOWN}
~+b UP:: Send {F12 UP}
~+v::Send {F12 DOWN}
~+v UP:: Send {F12 UP}
One thing possibly worth noting is that using this script causes me to uncrouch when I press b, possibly because F12 had some previous function.
