Re: Radeon HD Series TRASH, JUNK, DO NOT BUY
I have a Sapphire 6870 2SR, and it is one of the best cards for the price. No problems other than the high pitched squeal under max load (only happens during benchmarking and is a common thing among high end gpu's).

it only plays a big role if they actually change anything to the card itself, sapphire doesnt change anything to its stock cards the only thing they do is slap a sapphire sticker on the top, unless you get an overclocked version but thats just a software change they do. to go back on topic of this thread ive got a 6950 bios flashed to a 6970 and it works perfectly.[R-CON]creepin wrote:same here, got the sapphire radeon 4870 1GB, havent had a problem the last 2-3 years that its been... But now in time for BF3 i'm upgrading to a DX11 card, namely the Sapphire Radeon 6950 2GB Dual Fan
I think it plays a big role from which manufacturer you buy your cards, because the quality in capacitators and other stuff varies greatly!
P.S. never judge an entire card series on 1 persons oppinion of 1 card

True. All I buy is EVGA GPU's and mobo's (can't beat the warranty).karambaitos wrote:thats more like evga>Ati, stock nvidia are kinda crappy in the cooling department (i guess nvidia is experimenting wiht GPU + coffee maker machine setups)
also this thread should prolly be locked since its turning into a versus thread, Rissens problem probably is due to having a faulty mobo, or a weak PSU, come to think of it the OPs problems might be from a weak PSU
and
True, true. PSU can cause problems that are hard to pinpoint unless you know what you're looking at and for.

Yeah, I had the same problem every time i went on youtube, the computer would crash and have a blue screen. But thankfully and co-incedentally, when i was upgrading my friends computer, the 1gb graphics card did not work with his motherboard so i got a free swap with my 4670 and his 5770. The blue screen disapeared but i had a minor problem of needing to put out the video jack and plug it back in everytime a game started due to old 4670 driver. (also had to squash a ATX psu into a BTX motherboard.Vicious302 wrote:After years of using a 7800gs AGP I upgraded to a Radeon HD 4670. Problems out the A. DO NOT BUY a 4000, 3000, or 2000 series, known issues all over the web forcing you to use old drivers just so you don't get a blue screen, I wish someone would have stickied this 6 months ago so I could have saved myself the money and frustration. For those of you who have these cards working great, are you using win ult. 64?
Thankfully the minor problem should now disappear as i and getting a new rig with win7 but reusing the 5770, PSU and HDD.
