Oy gits. The Moderating Team is trying to increase our coverage in the Pacific timezone. We first tried to force some moderators to migrate to Australia or Los Angeles, but since that isn't working out, we are considering allowing some of you lot in.

Important: anyone is allowed to apply, but we are looking specifically for new moderators living from Australia to the East Coast of the US. Other applications may be kept in mind for possible later vacancies.

Moderators fulfill an important role on the forums and joining the Project Reality Team as an R-MOD is not an easy way to gain the 'tags', gain access to pre-release information or test builds. R-MODs are expected to put time and effort into ensuring that the forum rules are upheld, and that they are applied fairly. You will go from regular forum member to community enemy #1, and may, at times, find yourself having to remind friends or clanmates of the rules.

You will need good communication skills, the ability to explain yourself and deal with complaints civilly and most importantly - be willing to work as a member of a very close team.

Previous relevant experience: I have been running my own clan for 3 years now. And its been turning out good. I have experience coding servers. I am a nice and relaxed person, always ready to help new users, always there if someone has questions. In case I can not answers the questions I do some research to asure I am giving the users the correct information. I am very friendley, and should be easy to get along with.
I have coded websites and forums before using HTML and php nuke tools. It takes time but I dont complain. I am a big fan organized looking websites and forums, like this one pretty much. I have spend ages on forums both helping moderators also been a moderator for a website service however i quit it due to some school. I didnt have too much time back then. However times has changed and I believe a position as a R-MOD will be just what im looking for. And Ofcourse the best part of it is that its a moderation group to my favorite game. I have seen several moderation groups searching for moderators currently but as I have already tryed website support I would now like to try Game Support. Other than Head admin and coding experience. What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: Realitymod has been 2ndary homepage since v.07 Anyway, to get back on topic: I will bring a good personality, with sence of humor. I can show respect to all forum members. I will remain loyal in all kinds of situations and take actions to what needs to be delt with. I am a nice and relaxed guy, I take my time to look through the forums and asure I have not missed anything. I like stuff to look organized, rules to be kept. I also got a few ideas to the [R-MOD]'s. Also with me I bring HTML, CSS3 and Php Nuke experience. I have been coding for about 1 year now and enjoying it. Moderation can be a relaxed but it surly can also be a hazy job. However I am up for the challenge.

Why you want to be a moderator: As I can not (yet) help the DEV's with the mod it self, I would like to start as a moderator, Since I have moderated other forums and do have some coding experience too. I Would also like to apply since I am family of the retired R-DEV "Z-trooper". He showed me PR 3 years back, what it was all about. And now i guess im the next in line to take over where he left, He also told me that he'd teach me all he knew about coding and modeling etc.. So I am also looking to join the team when I got more experience with it. I do know many people on this forum. And I have been checking it pretty much daily for aprox 3 years. Length of time on forums: Well, my profile should give that away. Since '07, must've been around the 0.5 release that I got into this whole thing, as one of the few members of [R-DEV]bosco's former SWAT4 clan whom he could convince to try PR^^
Rough "daily browing time"/frequency of visits: It's basically my home page since years. The exact time varies, but it's certainly several hours daily, usually between 1700 and 0300 PRT, give/take a few hours depending on my current sleeping rythm.
Previous relevant experience: Server administrator for a large SWAT 4 clan, server head administrator and forum moderator for an important Mount & Blade Warband server/community and server administrator for an unrelated clan in the same game. I've dealt with my share of all sorts of troublemakers and know the value of a trustable person in a moderating position.
What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: In the communities in which I spend my time I'm usually known as friendly, helpful and reliable person who can handle responsibilities and seeks to help out those who require it. At realitymod.com I'm most fond of threads started by players new to PR as I enjoy helping them get into the game, and generally answering questions and helping people understand things is something I enjoy a lot. I'd bring the skill to deal with users in a friendly, patient and, if there is need for it, efficient way, should they cause trouble. I don't snap quickly and I take my tasks seriously.
Why you want to be a moderator: For the reasons above, basically. I'm here all day and am helping people already where I can on the forums. I also think that I'm relatively good at it, and if you need me, I'd like it to be known that it'd be a honour to be part of this moderation team. I also have always valued the forum rules, never been infracted or anything of that sort.

- I am the Lead Technician for ]CIA[ in that I set up all the servers and guide my underlings in the proper daily maintenance of our servers.
What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator:
- I believe I know when some people are simply letting off steam and when people want to get a negative reaction for the sake of getting negative reactions.
- I also am in training for KAMP Student radio which holds an FCC broadcasting license. This means that I must know when to hold my tongue and what is not appropriate for Broadcast while producing enjoyable content for all listeners.
Why you want to be a moderator: People have told me that I am a good Mediator of argument and I listen very well. And I let people say what they want without getting out of hand. I believe that this is a good opportunity to offer those skills to a community which has been with me for the last 5 years (I've been on here longer than my join date claims).

What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator:

1. Plenty of Experience. According to vbulletin stats, since we moved to our new forums in 2009 I've performed in excess of 1500 moderator actions. These actions range from deleting posts at o/p request, merging posts, giving infractions as per forum guidelines, banning users for repeated failures to comply with forum guidelines in consultation with the other admins, deleting spambots and reporting them to Stop Forum Spam (looking at setting up the auto api currently).
2. Being a moderator in a smaller gaming community has given me a good sandpit to learn to play nice with others. Made mistakes and have learnt from them. Still don't always get it right - but the important thing is accepting this and learning from it when you do.
3. Even handedness. Like everybody else I've got personal opinions about topics and people. I'm able to separate theses opinions and operate in a fair manner performing the duties of a moderator without prejudice - as much as it pains me sometimes
4. Team player. In line with the above point - I understand that whilst I have an opinion it's important to put that aside and fall in line with the official or group position.
5. Decent communication skills. Can string a sentence together and also manage to use a spellchecker on occasion. FWIW I found the spelling mistake in your form (I hope it's a test).
6. Apparently my timezone is in demand.

Why you want to be a moderator: I see it as a new challenge and the opportunity to put something back into the community which has given me so much (tried mapping and I suck) - I'm much better at this sort of stuff

Length of time on forums: Lurked for a few months before joining in 2008. Played since the .7 release.

Rough "daily browsing time"/frequency of visits: I leave these and other forums open as well as email and otherwise from about 8AM - 1AM the next day. I troll these forums a few times through that period pretty much everyday. Raising a baby I can't actually play PR half as much as I'd like to but I can always hang on the forums.


Previous relevant experience: I am been involved with a few clans around the PR universe for a few years now, I have always put the greater PR community above any clan affiliation. I am a former server moderator for =]H[= Hardcore as well as =S8= Section8 gaming and maintained a reputation for fairness and cool headed rational enforcement of the servers rules. I also helped admin their respective ventrilo servers. I helped stress test and feedback some of the .8 PR generation releases Most importantly I was also a web moderator there and with many other gaming clans, guilds and groups over about 10 years. Probably more than I could name at this point.


What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: I have always tried to bring the same by the book to the letter attitude to rule enforcement to all the gaming groups I have been involved with. Naturally I have never had any incidents here on the PR forums in terms of flame threads or issues with any of the mods. I am familiar with many of the inside jokes and idiosyncrasies as well as important nuances that have developed on these boards over the years. For instance the A.S.S thread or 'patient bear' as examples that come to mind.

I have always tried to help push Project Reality's initiatives to the public, like working tirelessly to promote Mumble .5 to the US clans I was involved with. While met with mixed success I certainly helped raise awareness and the discussion level. I have helped bring in new players from the outside over the years. Whenever possible I have tried to also be financially supportive at the very least just to give thanks to the awesome time and efforts put forth by the DEVs

The new release of PR:ArmaII has me back super full time and very excited about the buzz it is generating bringing in fresh faces from the ArmaII universe. There seems to be a lot of brand new people on these boards that need help adjusting to the way things are done around here. No I do not mean getting them to march in lockstep with everyone else, just to show them that the bar for maturity in our community is set very high. I think given the right controlled environment these new people will blend quite nicely and become welcome additions to the growing Project Reality world.

Why you want to be a moderator: I figure it is something further constructive I can offer with the gratuitous amounts of time I can spend on these forums. I always try to keep my posting minimal but substantive. Since I cannot really add anything in terms of texture artwork and I'm not really that hot at 3d modeling. As for mapping, any free creative moments I have right now have been spent elsewhere working on a level for The Dark Mod (Thief) for Doom3. I really am eager to give back a little to the game and it's players who I've gotten so much from over the past few years.

Rough "daily browsing time"/frequency of visits: After my hiatus from Windows (After breaking it), I really didn't visit any gaming forums, but now since I've gotten a proper gaming rig and what not, I've increased my forum visits. Daily Browsing time is probably 2-3 hours a day, depending on the day and homework.

Previous relevant experience: I've moderated a few small boards before which are mostly defunct, But I feel that moderating a forum large as this would be a nice experience if I do get accepted to the position.

What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: Being part of a shipping company in real life has helped me manage my self as a whole better together, and I'm sure I can bring some of the skills learned from the workplace onto the moderation team.

I believe I'd make a good moderator because after being on the internet for so long and studying how moderation team members from various boards work, I feel that I can finally put the years of observing how and what others do into my hands and join a great moderation community such as the one on this forum.

Why you want to be a moderator: I wish to become a moderator because I feel that I'm in the neutral side of things in the community and I can help others since my knowledge isn't stuck to just one subject or a general area of subjects. Ive been posting popular threads on the forums for quite a while from suggestions, opinion forums to future out looking. and others I try to give as much detailed factual information as possible when i am posting. Past experience with Moderating i cant say i have had much experience except for informing new posters about past posts and already talked about threads . . . Since i have been keeping up to date with post discussion and suggestion posts since ive started on the forums.

My Knowledge of the forums which ive been scanning through for the past couple of years gaining information on the updates and general discussions. I go through threads in detail looking at each post reading what people have to say. But mainly i can help eliminate Re posts about already talked about discussions suggestions Etc. and just incorporate my history with the forums to help better the system.

Why you want to be a moderator: Well weirdly enough . . i was LITERALLY just thinking about " i what it would be like to be a moderator in the PR forums " and im not gong to kid you . . . its a sort of weird 6th sense that i have had with other things too :l some how knowing i will see things? i dont know but For All seriousness I feel i want to be a larger part of the community since ive been with it for a while. ive been trying to find ways to help. but due to the lack of programing and art skills its a bit hard other than what i found works for me : Gaining input from the community about important aspects of PR : ive got to say that's what i enjoy the most while posting.Being a moderator i feel that if its my Job to search the forums for Detailed errors or what have you. What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: Specifically i'm very good at the following things: "You will need good communication skills, the ability to explain yourself and deal with complaints civilly and most importantly - be willing to work as a member of a very close team." I'm very good at diffusing tense situations, rarely do I loose my temper, and always try to be very polite. I respect authority myself, and generally prefer things to work as a team rather than individually by gaining others insights first, before making a decision.

Why you want to be a moderator: It seems like the PR folks really need mods, and I certainly can be around on the times that they need. Obviously, being so new to the forums makes it hard for you to choose me, but I thought by sending in my application now perhaps further down the line as I get more involved here you may still need some help. What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: Apart from having a large amount of relevant experience with dealing with people, on forums and in general, I like to believe that I am a pretty well liked guy. (Not to sound conceited or anything ) In other words I find it quite easy to actually get along with people but also enforce rules/warnings to people that do indeed need to be warned. I've worked in teams before to great extent. I've had people working below me (see above previous relevant experience) and I am also able to take orders to a great degree. The only time I will challenge and order is if I believe it isn't needed or to extensive. I know the majority of the rules of the forum and I think that as a generally active community member I will be able to moderate the forums with a great deal of effectiveness while increasing our positive presence in the forums.

Why you want to be a moderator: This is a hard one. As I have stated already I enjoy being part of a community and being able to help out the best way I possibly can. I believe that forums should be a part of a free discussion between like minded people, but I also believe that rules and regulations need to be enforced when they are broken. I enjoy going around the community and looking at different opinions on certain aspects of the game, RL, or just random things. One thing I cannot stand, though, is the lack of respect for some of the basic rules. Therefore I find myself constantly being a sort of forum vigilante . So basically I want to be a moderator because I think a greater presence in the forums of people that are willing to be scape goats to the general population because of rule enforcement is important xD

What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator:Dedication, steadfastness, and fairness. Keeping threads on topic and the trolls at bay is an important aspect to any well-run forum. Don't mind the occasional thread derailment as long as its in good fun, but go over the line and blatantly break the rules and I have no problem dropping the hammer on the violator. I like to think the PR forums is a place for everyone from my kid brother to the hardened veteran soldier.

Why you want to be a moderator:I want to help. I don't have the time to learn how to texture, make a model or map, so this would be a great way to contribute to a community that I have admired and been happy to be a part of for a while now. If I am chosen for this responsibility, I will look at this as a way for me to give back and will gladly put the time in and do my part.

Previous relevant experience: I have been a tester for a good couple of years now, tested 0.85, 0.87, 0.9, 0.95 (was LOA for 0.96-0.97 due to work). I was also an admin at Reality Teamwork a couple years back.
What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: I'm calm and don't do things irrationally. I'm also not afraid to step in when needed. I can type normally and do not resort to Caps Lock. I have also not received an infraction in 2.5 years on the forums so that should speak for itself. I also do not need someone holding my hand and telling me what to do 24/7 to properly do my job.
Why you want to be a moderator: I'd like to contribute some more to the PR Team. Being a tester for the past 2 years, I have enjoyed doing work that I know will benefit the PR Team and community. With the recent influx of new players visiting realitymod due to the launch of PR:ArmA 2 (and probably subsequent increases of forum-goers due to further launches), I feel that I could help the mod team out by educating new forum-goers about the forum's spoken and unspoken rules.

What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: I feel I'd be a good moderator because I know the forum rules. I have not received an infraction on the forums and I refrain from flaming anyone because of their post. When I do reply, I usually reply straight to the point, trying to keep it as nice as possible. I've also been an admin on servers so I know when I'd need to act to keep people in line and the chat calm.

Why you want to be a moderator: I want to be a moderator because I seem to be the first one to a thread sometimes on the suggestions forum where the suggestion was been suggested multiple times. I also want to be a mod because I feel that I can help make the community nicer (not that it isn't nice already).

Previous relevant experience: I have been a forum admin of several smaller boards relating to gaming or airsoft, most of which are deserted by now. I have also been a squad leader in the Project Reality tournament where I had "moderator powers" on some boards. After being on various internet forums roughly since 2004, I've had a number of encounters with troublemakers and trolls and I have a good idea on how to deal with them.
What skills you would bring to the team/Why you'd be a good Moderator: I bring with me many experience over the years from the PR Forums, PRT, and PR gameplay having been an active project reality player most of the time since .4 release. I have also experience in making movies in PR, as shown in the link on my sig, with the ability to direct and edit movies. Directing a movie with a large group of people takes a great amount of organization, coordination, and leadership, which is what I have experience in.
I also have a good deal of knowledge of the vBulletin software since I had some moderator powers on the PRT forum a few years ago. I am also very organized and like to see the forums clean (deleting double posts, removing spam, etc). Working with others a lot, I understand everybody has their own opinion, and I try my best to stay neutral or express my opinion in a way that does not flame anyone.
Why you want to be a moderator: This site is basically the first one I visit when I open up my browser, so in a way, this is my home. I'm sometimes shocked at how frequently the rules are broken and the appropriate response takes a long time. As a moderator I wish to fix this problem to the best of my ability. As an AFROTC cadet, being a moderator would be a great improvement and experience to help with my communications and leadership skills. I want to continue to make this forums a safe and friendly environment for everyone to enjoy.
