Advice on list of pre builds

Hi there. I'm very un-technical with regards to PC specs, so therefore a custom build built by me would be like having Brussels Sprouts on toast with custard.

So, may I ask some of you technically aware members which pre-built system would play PR-BF2 and the new PR-ArmA2 games with no problems, out of the PC's in the Entry to Mid level gaming rigs on this page http://3xs.scan.co.uk/Category.asp?Syst ... egoryID=20

I feel that you are paying too much for these builds. Nevertheless, I will offer my expertise.

This one seems to be what will suit your needs. An i5 2500k (essentially an i7 2600k minus the hyperthreading, a feature useless to gamers) is one of the best processors out there and has the best performance/price ratio for high end CPUs. The graphics card is pretty high end and will rip through ArmA 2 without a problem. 4GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM is also nice.

If the former is too expensive, this PC is a decent alternative. Six core AMD Phenom II has a good amount of performance and the Radeon 6850 is a good card.

For reference, my build has an i5 2500k, Radeon 6870, and 8GB G.Skill Sniper 1.25v. I can run ArmA 2 on nearly all maxed out settings with very good frames (60 in open area and 25-30 in cities). That being said, I have yet to overclock my CPU (stock 3.3 GHz) as the first computer has. Therefore you should experience much higher performance in that PC than what I have in mine.

I think this seems like a reasonable site. You have a lot of customization options meaning you can pay for what you need. Also, the price isn't too far off from a homebuilt PC so it should be a better deal too.

Just remember, go for an i5 2500K, anything above a GTX 560/Radeon 6870, 4-8 GB 1600 RAM. For the other parts, pick and choose what you like/need.

Tip: For graphics cards the first number always represents the generation (i.e. 4 in GTX 460 means gen 4). Therefore a GTX 460 and GTX 560 are pretty similar, but a GTX 460 is still better than a GTX 550.

So the cut off is GTX560, is the GTX560 just a spec too poor for this game? It's just there's a rig on Ebay that has a 560.

It's a daunting process choosing a gaming rig, isn't it?

560 is definitely NOT too poor for this game. You should expect nearly all maxed out settings with this card. The 560 Ti is slightly better than the 560, but the 560 will be perfect for your needs. I am only trying to steer you into buying a card for your needs that should last a while and won't break the bank.

It does take some time, but remember, research is your friend. Get a rig that suits your needs and you will be happy with. I actually made a list of all the parts and sites to buy each one from when I was building my rig. In the end I built a great computer for relatively very little.
