Replace Kill by Ticket Loss Counter

Post by Skull »

idea: instead of getting kills, you get the ticket amount you cost the enemy.
example: you kill an apc, you get 5 "kills".
you kill an infantry man, you get 1 or 2 points.
meaning: just for seeing how useful you actually are for the team. while you get normal points for building fob, taking flags etc, you get "kills" for destroying vehicles, wounding/killing people etc. interesting especially when you kill a vehicle and the crew disembarks or wound people without actually killing them.
implementation: most likely through a python script, dont know though.

points do seem a little 'pointless' atm :D having fewer points and presenting them as tickets would be kinda nice

The score list is more useful then checking your epeen. You can learn a lot about the enemy team by checking the scores, also helpful to see if you wounded/killed anyone. I realize this may seem like a bit of an exploit but it helps bridge the gap between game and reality. Granted you can't tell the name of the pilot who you just shot down IRL, but I'm pretty damn sure you can tell when the enemy is dead by looking at him while in PR that ragdoll on the ground may very well be waiting for his medic.

I prefer to see the kdr displayed at all times as there are many benefits for the intelligent players and frankly I feel the endgame results can be very misleading. As far as points go I really see anyone care anymore, other then the odd time our SL wants us to be top squad for the team (epeen).

Replace "point" counter with how many tickets you've removed from enemies.

Replace "team point" counter with "point" counter (Like misc points, building, reviving, etc.)

???

Well, small issue - you would be able to tell how many tickets the enemy has left.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Which allows your team and more importantly the commander, to make strategic decisions based on how much to attack and defend.

Its a method of introducing fiscal (ticket) responsibility to players, and realistic as well: In war, reconnaissance and observation allow commanders to determine how much reinforcement the enemy has.

I like it, good suggestion.

Aye. I've always thought the score system could be used for so much more than just ... 'points'. The score board could contain a lot of interesting team-wide statistics instead of player scores. Tickets lost, what way they were lost, what type of vehicles were used, lost and destroyed by your team, the overall team combat performance, % of casualties that could be saved by medics, in insurgency mode a chart telling you what your team gained/lost intelligence points for, amount of civilians killed outside ROE, amount of arrests (team-wide) etc. etc.

The only score-like thing I'd keep is the "Best squad" at the end of the round, because some competition between squads helps build up cohesion.

Best squad is pointless, its based solely off points. It should be removed entirely since it garners no reward and can be gained by not helping the team at all.

if im not mistaken, i already suggested a similar thing a long time ago, and it got shot down, hope it gets put in the game.

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... ction.html

Where the kill counter shows how many tickets you've taken away from the NME, and the death counter how many tickets youve lost, also cant the scoreboard be side locked, so one side see only their scores and not the opposing team? also wounding an nme should give you some kind of reward on the scoreboard, since you lost the other team a ticket, its really annoying when you shoot a bunch of people then they get revived, and you got nothing to show for it :(

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

Anything that gets rid of having to look at your Kills counter to see if they have 'given in' or if they are waiting for you is a bonus imho.

And having a system that discourages trying to 'get kills' is also a bonus.

Then, why have they removed the enemy ticket count?

To counter the calculating enemy tickets, would a delay be workable? It would break the checking if the guy is 'dead dead', but still allow this suggestion to be implemented...

Thing is, I don't know how much it would help - you can still get a ballpark figure... Maybe not having squad totals midway through? Rare is it that someone will total everyone's tickets with no easy totals?

Personally I don't support it. You'd know when the enemy is about to be overrun or retreating from a battle, as opposed to it being incredibly sudden.

Showing what assets specifically have been destroyed per player adds a different element, showing 'how good our armor is doing against theirs' as opposed to raw tickets which could have a multitude of explanations.

Well, this would alter the game dynamics ridiculously for me. God knows how many times I've attacked or defended based on how many tickets I had left and how many tickets I assumed the enemy had left.

There would only be 1 "twist" about this, which could be ticket bleed (which would not be accounted for). But either way, you are able to tell how many tickets are left in the other team, approximately.

I still think there's a reason it was removed in the first place, and it was, I BELIEVE, to encourage survivability. After all, you don't know how big the enemy army is........

Interesting suggestion. Personally, I think we should keep the kill-score, and simply add a new one, showing how much ticket-loss we've caused the opposing team.

Why haven't this been done already!?? This has been talked about for ages and everyone seems to agree that the kills should at least only be visible after the round... Just do it already :D

Keep the kills. This isn't a milsim. An experienced player can always judge the approximate amount of enemy tickets if he's been paying attention the whole round.

I like this and would like to see this implemented, and as suggested above already, leave the killcount for after the round.
