PR BF2 : life cycle ?

Post by fabioxxxx »

I know that the objective is to reach version 1.0 , so that means after 1.0 PR BF2 is done ?

I was thinking in buying some bf2 licenses for friends, and having a general idea of PR BF2 life cycle would help.

thanks.

They'll keep developing it as long as people are willing to to develop it. 1.0 is not the end as long as the community is playing PR and the devs want to spend the time.

@ Vance, don't do it, you have so much to live for, there wont be other games but maybe some day you'll discover... stuff.

Once we reach v1.0 doesn't mean the development of the mod will stop. Although v1 will be a significant milestone, providing people are still playing the mod and we have developers on board, I don't see why we won't keep on developing the mod even further. I know I have a lot of work which could possibly go beyond v1 to get finished ;)

The implementation of 128 players mode would really, really prolong BF2 :P R's lifespan.

But only if they manage to implement it until PR dies...

PR:BF2 is still a pretty unique experience gameplay wise, although PR:ARMA 2 has aspects of it its still a very different game. I expect people who want to have the 'PR experience' will keep playing PR:BF2, particularly since new content is still in development, some of which might not make it into 1.0 as Rhino has said.

I have been getting the impression that it could go on for a couple more years.

It can also go into 4-5-6 decimals instead of 1.0.

I can't imagine PR dying, we must be total n00b haters for that to happen. As long as we commercialize PR by saying, "Hey, this game sucks, PR is much better!" on a random game. Then some guy will ask, "hey dude! What is PR?". "Well dude, it's a..."

The only thing that could end PR would probably be iPR, lol...

Hope so anyway...

Out of curiousity, if any devs are willing to answer this. Do you guys have a private feature list that needs to be implemented before you call it 1.0? I mean, do you have strict criteria for when you'll call a release 1.0?

Since PR uses custom factions, completely redid the vanilla factions, uses its own maps and assets, and the gameplay itself is mature, I'd say you could have even reasonably called it 1.0 a while ago. When it was around version 0.85 actually, being 1.0 would have felt "right" for me.

I would like to have V1.0 super stable release with a bunch of new stuff.

Otherwise, everything else they can claim as "beta" if they mess up :D

Also, v1.0, IMO, should have completely phased out any vBF2 textures, weapons, vehicles, factions, etc.

I'm looking at you, MEC.

PR V 1.01 just to piss people off lol, PR is heading down hill but only because changes to patches turned people off and newer games like Crysis, COD, MOD, and new BF games. If you enjoy PR play it. MOHAA is still active and that game is 12 years old.
