Well, for what reason couldn't a soldier just paint his M79 in tiger stripe other than no paint around? Doesn't seem like a big issue - unless it's because it isn't worth the effort required to make it. If the people in charge have time and/or will to do it though a pickup kit with it would be really nice.

Also, what about PPS-43 as an alternative kit of the specialist rifle man?

with regards to the tiger stripe m79. Although it is based on a movie that scene and several scenes in full metal jacket are taken from the new reporter mickeal Herrs book dispaches. The m79 incident was a marine at the seige of khe sun it was not tiger striped but described as personalized includeing a differrent stock.
The marines were getting frustrated by a dieing nva soldier out in the perimeter which they couldnt see. hes was crying for his mother for days. Herr discribes this marine who appeaers like on an acid trip, aims fires and kills the wounded man and walks off.
personalization of weapons was rare the mud ,sweat, rain, wet rot were more of an concern. i say no to anything personalized. you just have to look at the hundreds of thousands of pictures in the war to see that it was very rare aznd i hyave never seen a personaized m79.

It's very interesting information! I just think that it would be great to have M79 with "tiger skin" as a tribute to "Apocalypse Now". That's all.chagadiel wrote:with regards to the tiger stripe m79. Re: Weapons desired in PR:Vietnam
There are a million references to Vietnam in pop culture regarding it.. It has become quite 'cult' (just look at all the money made even recently off games based on it, featuring 'Vietnam soundtracks' etc).
There are plenty more less obvious things to have as an easter egg.. Perhaps think of those instead. I wouldn't really want to look at that thing every time I play grenadier!

Re: Weapons desired in PR:Vietnam
Maybe I have been an insurgent too long, but I would love to see deployable booby traps for the VC in PR:V. For example, punji stake pits, sapling traps, bamboo whips, and log swing and spike ball mace variants.
See Department of the Army TC 5-31 HERE for documentation of these types of booby traps as well as many others. The section on booby traps starts on page 43, paragraph 13.
Additionally, that same document outlines extensively Vietcong usage of mine warfare techniques, and the use of improvised explosive devices. Oh yeah, you didn't know that the VC used IED's? A common technique was rewiring dud bombs and artillery shells. Hmm, doesn't that sound suspiciously like something that is already present in PR?
On a personal note, I would love to see the M16 "Bouncing Betty" landmine in game as well.
