Technical gunner invisible shield

I'm getting tired of the BS invisible shield in front of the techie gunners. It seems 90 % of the time when a techie is coming for you and you aim for the gunner the bullets just pling off some invisible shield in front of him. That makes it very hard to kill the seemingly exposed gunners, especially when moving.

I've heard that only headshot kills the gunner in techies, bodyshots do nothiing.

Someone please confrim this.
