[0973] General CTD/Possible Fix?

Alright, so I want to play PR quite obviously, and keep in mind I've been running this game for months and months without problems, but suddenly, starting the game, it just won't start. The black box appears in windowed mode, but then disappears without any error message.

So I get frustrated trying this 30 times and finally go to vanilla BF2, and start playing around in a couple different matches, but the important thing here is that I tweaked some settings that I do not remember.

Closing out of BF2 and trying PR one last time, a prompt appeared, saying something along the lines of 'default configuration restored, be sure to change controls' or something like that.

Like a miracle, the game worked. So something I tweaked in BF2 told PR to reset controls, and this made my game work again.

However, the CTD issues, exactly like before, have started happening again.

Is there some way to manually get PR to restore settings like before besides a full reinstall? I know this is a technical help issue and much less a bug report but I didn't see anywhere to ask for help besides here, so my apologies if it's in the wrong place.

my documents\battlefield 2 delete that and you deleted all your settings
