That terrain looks insane!! How did you make it?

Edit: also, for file uploading, use mediafire.

I'm guessing downloaded DEM data, spiced up a little with a geo control filter, then texturing done via geo control (which IMO isn't the best texturing program since it only paints flat colours and not textures on the colourmap) and then all imported into BF2.

Looks quite small..I mean, big mountains like this restrain movement alot. Will still have a look.

Being 4km and having a lot of vertical play, I am sure it has plenty of room as long as the slopes allow for walking or there are trails. Vehicles might get a little complicated, but tbh it does not look like we will see this map in the mod anytime soon, as pretty as the terrain may look this map is far from done, We see no main bases, no control points, no points of interest, and his desired factions are both WIP.

Damn good start, I just hope it gets finished.

Oh I think we will never this map in PR at all. What I think he meant was he's over with this map and gave us his last version.

This is impressive. Imagine flying in such beautiful terrain! How amazing. I've never seen anything this detailed in the BF2 engine.

You might have to worry about terrain warping though, since it's 4km.

Since it's an island, the surrounding "terrain" consists of water only, so looks just as good. Having no out-of-bounds timer (or one that's very high) makes it more interesting for jets to do some serious flying, though that would require the map to have two airstrips (or Harriers :p ). This could be a cool map.

Not if you use the terrain warping fix used on Iron Eagle. ;)

This looks like a fantastic candidate for an air-to-air vehicle warfare map (assuming some quick-ish work packing runways onto corners of the map).

Problem with that is it has a large impact on performance, and can also make the terrain look really odd at the same time in some cases.

I don't understand wich super awesome kind of terrain you guys are talking about :? ??:, it looks pretty undetailed and reminds me of the Xmas map pack with the germans against russians.

I was kinda expecting more detail myself, teh OG isn't placed with any real conviction imo, The map looks like its in a great starting place, but theres loads to do still...

And I'm of the opinion that the groudntexturing method here hasn't really worked very well

Needs more details etc

Also, i used SRTM data edited in Photoshop, google high res image with Geobuddy and Bf2_tpaint for texture. That's all.

So the process its like:

- Use the airfield_test map
- Download the Srtm
- Download the high res image
- Edit the primary and the secondary map
- Generate Texture with Tpaint and colorbig.tga locked
- Do the Owergrow manualy in the bf2 editor
- Generate Lightmap
- Fix the terrain terrain cull

I m moving to Arma, so i think about to start a new map, its why im not mapping at this time.

I want to do this awsome map in Arma cause the terrain is far bigger, that would be a terrain made with different part of the planet or a simple island.

Thx all for comment. For now ima playing on Arma free on CTI map, i just need to find a Arma dealer, its look like nobody has this game here..

Sorry for my bad english

Have a good day.
