Blue screen and then I cannot login

Post by jackcr »

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this because it's happening far to often now. I can play PR for sometime before anything happens, but then I suddenly I get a blue screen and crash to desktop. When I then restart the game and try to log back in, I can only see my login name, but no option to log back in. This is because the login part seems to have disappeared from the screen. This is doing my head in because I then have to use Acronis to recover my hard drive just to keep playing the game.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

I suggest having malware on your flashdrive and one of the bottom ones listed for your computer

microsoft security essentials (free)
AVG free
AVAST free
Avira free
I prefer microsoft security essentials as its light on resources and wont ask you for money with ads and has excellent detection rates and very simple to use
AVAST on the other hand is very in depth and a litle complicated so if you are a power user I would reccomend avast
the other ones are in between

I suggest posting PC specs

I have scanned hard drive and found no errors, scanned for malware and found nothing, updated my graphics card driver and did a few window updates, so I'll let you know how I get on. There is just another question in the meantime, I would like to know if there is a way to log this crash to get some idea as to whats causing it? The blue screen crash happens so quick that I cannot see what is written on it. I'm wondering, do you think that the event viewer might pick something up? Or should I be looking else where for a log of the crash?

You get a BSOD but system is not restarting? That sound weird, maybe that's not BSOD what you're having cause in case BSOD occurs in system two things might happen. 1 - system will restart immediately, or 2 - system will halt with error displayed on screen.

Check this photo and compare how it is set in your system. Right click on computer icon - properties - advanced system settings - settings

Did you check your RAM for errors? What audio device are you using?

@Massive, the tick was in Automatically restart and debugging information was set at none. I have now set it the same as whats in the pic you put up, but is this right to do? How do I check Memory for errors? Thanks!

Sound card is a Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Graphics card Palit Geforce 460 GTX
Cpu Quadcore intel i7 930

@rushn This is just a text file I cannot seem to find the program, or is it suppose to be just a text file? Thanks!

Yes its most common setting for troubleshooting. Now if BSOD occurs your system will not restart automatically and in event viewer there will be description of error, in case you cant capture screen output.

Since you have X-FI Xtreme Gamer take a look here in this thread I think you have the same problem https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ly-pr.html

The sound thing looks like it might be the problem since I didn't have it set to Hardware. I will give it a good test out in the next few days and report back if I encounter any problems. I really appreciate the help. Thankyou!!

It's your Sound Card. It's allergic to PR and occasionaly Bf2. Last i heard no fix is yet available. Turn sound to High. Might Help.
