.net framework question

Post by rantanplan178 »

hi everybody,

my first post here and even a question too. i wanted to make a first time bf2pr installation on my pc. everything went well during the installation up to the first part of the pr installer. after lunching these first part it tells me i have to install the ".net framework 3.5". that's funny 'cause i already have the ".net framework 4.0". what should i do know? should i install the framework 3.5 anyways?

some backround information: i have installed the ".net framework 4.0" with a full installer from microsoft. so i haven't installed any previous ".net framework".
my bf installation sequence is, bf2 vanilla - bf:sf - patch 1.41 - patch 1.5 - first part pr.
i have windowsXP:sp3 with amd 6000+, 2gb ram, soundblaster x-fi, nvidia gtx260

any help will be appreciated.

Try downloading .NET 3.5 as well. See if it works.

dude...it works.
i've just found out that the .net framework 4.0 do not include any previous framework versions. i haven't thought about such a problem. the reason for not getting any replies in two different forums (i've asked the same question in a german bf forum named "bf-games.net") made me think that my problem must have something to do with my installation sequence. so i paid a look into the .net framework history at microsoft support and  there was the answer.
in contrary to previous parts the .net framework 4.0 is a stand-alone software. so you need to install .net 3.5 service pack 1 as well, if you want to play games which use this or older frameworks.

well, last words, everything works fine now and i'm really happy to play your marvellous mod without further difficulties. project reality is outstanding and it's not just a mod. you've made a complete new game so keep it up. btw, are you still working your own stand-alone tactical shooter game?

see you online
