For me it's a few things:

1. Busy as hell with school.

2. It's not PR's fault but the servers always run the same maps. It gets old. I don't mind Muttrah but it seems to be the only map ever played... and it gets old.

3. Some newer games coming out currently... I think they are taking people but only temperarily.

PR is a game that STICKS.... these new games come out and are only temporary sidetracking things. Like Dark Souls... BF3... Skyrim...

people will always come back to PR. I know I will. I love this game more than any other game ever. Seriously. This is my favorite game of all time.

I'm just sick of the same map cycles. I rarely get to play like.. anything other than Muttrah..

Also noticed a lot less teamwork and good cooperation than I remember. I think PR has been watered down player wise. first time I got on i had a lot of awesome squad based cooperation bad *** experiences. Lately I've had a lot of really shitty disorganized squads... or squads locked with only 2 people for no reason... just dumb shit.

I dunno. PR has changed player-base wise.

That, for me, is part of the same problem Caligulus. The times I've played a map like Archer in the last few days (even more now that I think of it) I played have been zero! It where always the same maps.

That really annoys me too, because a lot of the maps that get played a lot involve assets, whether they're essential or not to fighting effectively, and this means that when you do have a good round often you lose by the margin of tickets lost to all those choppers crashed by the tards that are mollified by these asset heavy map rotations.

I was playing Archer for the first time in forever because WOW there was a server running it with lots of people on it! And of course everything was going well too. I was in a good squad and we were doing really well. We were fighting hard and taking down caches. Of course we lost like 150 tickets in half an hour suddenly when a couple tards joined the trans squad that was really effective with one chinook pilot and they proceeded to fly like ********. I remember at one point we were engaging targets and moving on a cache and 3 chinooks did a fly over in column formation real low. Of course when we called for pick up a few minutes later after taking the cache down all of them were down...

We lost with 2 caches left and with way fewer deaths than necessary to lead to defeat by ticket loss on infantry losses. That definitely points me at your second point.

I was on with a few guys today in our TART squad and we wanted to practice in a locked squad as a unit but I decided to not lock my squad cause of 6 squads already 4 were locked! And of course those leet 2 or 4 man clan squads were all off on 'special ops'.

End up sitting in a T shape holding the flag despite my preference for more direct action against the enemy but I was handcuffed cause the rest of the squads were not helping much so if we went outside we'd get cut down in a crossfire pretty easily.

I don't think we can blame all the new guys. Sometimes 'good' players think their leetness entitles them to go off the grid and do some Delta Farce op with all the limited kits.

Oh and why is it that even with mumble installing with PR now everybody who joins my squads doesn't seem to think they have it? Am I the only SL that tells them they have to use it to be in my squad? Confounded!

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes you want to do something specialized to help out. Or maybe just stay on defense... but you always get these leet squads that do special ops with like 2 people. They don't accomplish much.. and thats how they want to play. But it's annoying.

I miss getting in this game with a decent SL (one who at least tries... even if he messes up) and being a medic and just doing squad related things. Taking points...defending... even like recovering a supply truck from somewhere or establishing a FOB. Little things were so much fun.

It doesn't happen as much anymore... it seems like the good players are now being replaced by like...vanilla bf2 guys that somehow found their way over?? I don't get it.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I LOVE ARCHER! I never get to play it... it's always relatively brand new to me... so everytime i play it i savor it and usually have an amazing time!

I still remember (not that it was an amazing map) when PR came out with a winter pack and a map called operation snowblind or something. It wasn't really amazing or anything in partuclar... but I was amazed at the fact that NO ONE EVEN TRIED IT!! It came out and it was a new type of map (snow) and everyone STILL stuck to muttrah. It just got so old. Muttrah is an amazing map... I love it. But I'm so damn sick of it. I made a post like a year ago about this but people still play muttrah 24/7
Wicca wrote:What server do you play on ?
Not 100% positive but I play a lot of diff servers. Whatever is up and available. Mostly its usually like muttrah and maybe kashan. not much else. It's rare to get a different map.

Also last point. It seems like when the map isn't muttrah or kashan... the teams fall apart. for some reason I think that those maps arep layed so much that people are drilled into playing them and know what to do in them. I've noticed most of the time when I play a different map things fall apart quick... Squads dont work out.. people quit and the game goes to shit. I dont know if this is because people hate other maps... and decide not to try on the other ones or what. It's just odd. I love getting a good game in on a different map. It's amazing and most of the time I truly have my best most favorite PR memories on maps that I dont play all the time.

I'm glad at least some others experience this and its not jsut me.

I love PR... its sitll my favorite.. but I dunno. I just miss what I remember from a bit ago... seems like theres a new generation that plays now and they just dont give a fuck.

Right now I see on prspy a full server with dragonfly as the map. I'd get on right now if I wasnt on my laptop. I have never even had a full game on that map to have experienced it. Everytime it gets changed or people quit... to go to muttrah. Just funny... if I had the time i'd get on right now just to run around it and experiencing what I could before it switched.

hm... 9:30 GMT+1 is definitely not a popular time for PR, but... I counted 57 players on prspy... ?
that kinda reminded me of FH2.
I guess PR:Arma2 got way more popular than I thought it would be...

Errr it has nothing to do with the clunky walk'o'warp simulator that is known as ARMA2, when I wrote this post there were 18 people playing it.

Nothing wrong with the game,I just don't have the willpower to play on the only 2 "popular"severs left as they are terrible.

BF3 is like a new snack you eat but after it you'll want a real meal which is PR.

That's how I see it with all those new games...

Yeah it's definitely not the game .This game is amazing.

THe problems i have are strictly the people now lol. SUcks to say that.

Servers with boring map cycles (i.e. Muttrah, Muttrah, Kashan, Muttrah Kashan Muttrah Muttrah, and maybe one Iron Eagle (which is awesome))

And then players who don't want to work together in a squad. Actually more and more I see squads used less and people running off on their own now.

So yeah... with that said... I'd be all about it but it's hard to get in a good game anymore.

Everyone will come back once the couple days of BF3 release is done.

It's not like people have left forever. Remember that everyone who used to play it in high school may not have time now in college/university/job. It happens every year, but more people will come. don't you worry.

I think I'm just going to write a program that stalks dbzao's IP and tells me when he's playing PR so that i can just try and be in one of those absurdly good rounds he puts up on youtube that I never seem to run into.

Skyrim. I stopped all activities since it's out, this game is a marvel.

I guess Skyrim is dragging some other PR players too :p
