"Build" me a new computer!
I have a 5 yr old desktop with a crappy CPU and to upgrade to a better one i need a new mobo. My 8800gt just shit to bed on my last week, so this is a great excuse for a new computer.
I'm not really on-top of all the computer news so i need you guys to help me pick out the best possible parts for the money. I'd like the rig to be able to play bf3 on high. If that's even possible.
So my budget is ~550, but if there is something really worth putting extra dollars in I'm willing to do it.
I will be building this computer together myself for the first time, so any tips, do's and dont's are appreciated

Re: "Build" me a new computer!
Okay thanks, would it be okay to re use my current power supply? Its a couple years old. I have a OCZ GameXStream 600W power supply
I have never played games in resolutions as big as 1440x900, so i think that it would be plenty for me
(19")
I want a new case because there is little room in mine, and has very bad air circulation. What would you recommend for a case and hard drive?
Now how will i actually build it once i get all the parts, do they come with the hardware needed to mount?

Your from Iceland, so where are you willing to order from?
And as for a case on a budget I recommend the..
Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus Case. 69.99GBP

.
Or for 85.99GBP you can get the Cooler Master HAF 922 Case

Mad-Mike, i am not in Iceland at the time, I'm in the United States now, MA. So newegg is fine.
I'm 17 and work as an Electrical Apprentice, I'm sure i have enough tools, was just worried about the mounting. Good to know that the CPU comes with its own heat sink and thermal paste.
Also im going to buy the ram 2x so i have 8gb, might as well because it will only cost me 23 dollars more right?
I have never played over 1280x960 because my computer didnt have enough balls to go any futher. I have always been gaming bf2 with 1024x768 :/

What about OS, i want windows 7, is there any way to get it cheap?

Exiled, i will take your advice and get the more expensive CPU and the 4gb.
But the ram you listed just got sold out. What to do?

Then go with Corsair Value version or G.Skill - they are pretty cheap

Re: "Build" me a new computer!
don't forget later buy more RAM
win 7 will eat 1,3 GB of your RAM so when you will have next paycheck - buy more RAM for complete awesomness

Good job at selecting your parts. Overall this is a solid build. Though 8GB of RAM would have been better, 4GB is perfectly fine.

:/ Yeah, it had something to do with the flooding in Thailand, hard drives aren't being produced and prices are sky rocketing everywhere as far as i know.
