I really like the athmosphere :) .

Is it possible to make the soldiers a bit more smooth? It's the only thing in the picture that stands out a bit.

But really, I like this!

Phenomenal job on removing the minimap. Didn't even notice that you'd gone over it until I looked at the original again.

Awesome stuff :)

If you watch old reel film you often see a frame or two that will just flash that kind of lucid bright colour wash. I like it, the original too. I imagine it like you just have that one frame from a whole reel that is oversaturated.

I dig it.

dtac's question still stands, imo

Thank's for the feedback everybody! I paid a lot of attention to the perspective of the reflections, they're not just mirrored

Would any of you mind explaining what the problem is? Thanks to anyone who decides to post something helpful.

It sorta looks like you used the plastic wrap filter. Too much of the detail and original image location is lost in the over-zealous shading and effects. I had to check out the original to see where it was :p

It's cool, just feels like I'm looking at a black image with some white grunge brushes :)

It just doesnt look right :-? Its too dark, the trees look awful and the land looks blairy/smudged.

Well...

Taking screenshots of a game has very much the same challenges as real life photography, apart from the technical aspect of course. The picture needs a clear subject or interesting composition (both, better yet) to convey a story or a feeling to the viewer. You can do only so much with editing, it's not easy to turn an uninteresting screenshot into an interesting one unless you're planning on adding a lot of stuff to it but that's a whole different issue.

The whole purpose of editing any image (in this context) be it real or computer-generated is to increase the 'coolness factor' of an already successfull picture, to put it simply. So to answer your question, the problem with the pic is that there isn't really anything interesting or even a clear subject to "look at" as dtacs put it in his (rather rhetorical) question.

edit: I didn't go into any technical detail on that edit, previous comments pretty much covered that.

The boat pic I edited immediately sparked inspiration in me even though there isn't anything particularly fancy going on in there. I only edit pics that I want to myself! So, thanks to dtacs for his screenshot once again

Hmm, I see what you mean about the subject of the image, thanks. However, the look I was going for was a painting, not a realistic picture, that's why I darkened and smudged it so much, to give it that inky feel.

Also, how do you know it's not raining on the hill? ;)
