With a ranged scope it can fulfill the exact same purpose as a normal rifleman. The kit has and should always be a squads' CQC solution as opposed to an addition to the ranged repertoire.

And it isn't just an ACOG. This is adding a scope to the most lethal weapons in PR like the G3 and Tavor, which is ridiculously good when scoped.

Scopes are useless unless you are pretending to be a silly sniper.

Or you are long range trolly lolling.

Otherwise, specialist is perfect the way it is, tbh.

Also, epic necro.

Sure, but it's a talking point nonetheless.

Anyway, I just like the idea of giving the kit the option to carry a scope thing as all the other Rifleman kits have one, plus I can't imagine it's terribly unrealistic.

thing as all the other Rifleman kits have one
That doesn't justify giving a kit a piece of equipment. Most soldiers in real life units use basic rifles without each having multiple rockets, claymores or other special weapons. In PR this is reflected with the encouragement of Rifleman standard use, for the ammunition and all round capability, and intention for there to be more Riflemen than any other class.
plus I can't imagine it's terribly unrealistic.
You need to understand that gameplay and realism have to be equally catered to, giving the Specialist a scoped rifle is in direct correlation against that.

Now.... if the bf2 upgrade system is global for a team- then why not let the commander decide on the load-out? Urban- predominantly no scopes, Balanced- like we have now, and ranged- as in everyone ( 8) ) has scopes? The only limit to this is the download size of the mod.

What if a commander forced everyone to use Ironsights on Kashan?

Wow, mega thread necromancer XD

On the serious note, I think that it would be cool, but then the animation and the coding would take ages, so I think the actual system works.

Edit: by the time I wrote this, 5 pages of comments appear, LMAO

Just give specialist this.

No seriously who needs scopes for class that is desinged for CQB. You can still engage targets at long range, just follow the tracers and fire in that general area.

Would be nice if HAT and AA could have an option of using EO-Tech on alternate. Been looking around and saw it written on the forums here once that practically every rifle is issued with optics now, so ironsights are unrealistic I guess?

I Don't see the point. You don't need scopes as much as you think especially on the map you used as an example.

I know the scope in times for optics/non optics are about even now so not having a scope isn't he advantage it used to be in CQC but its always good to have one guy without x4 in a squad.

What if you make it so that you can select it with Acog in the spawn menu, but if you right click when requesting you get the aimpoint.

With this you get what everyone want it seems, some want Acog, some want the Aimpoint.. Soo Yeah..

if you give specialist an acog simply it will act as a lone medium range marksman jumping from roof top to roof top shooting down upon the enemies . .. very out of balance at least if they help marksmen get on roofs it would take them a longer time to get from one building to another . . . plus the resources from two men being used for one task opposed to one man for both tasks . . if that makes any sense to you guys

I think this is a sober observation... I still believe a scoped specialist would be overpowered, just like it was decided some time ago. I don't see how has anything changed... besides the fact that it is "limited"... That's just my 2 cents, though.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Some people (like me) are still forced to play on 15" screen. So a scope is always handy, because without it my medium distance engagements sometimes tend to be frustrating to say the least.

More choices, more fun.

Well, yes, but don't you think you'd be a bit ninja/overpowered?

I play on a 1280x1024 screen (not sure how many inches) and I have no trouble with red dots... of course, I'm miserable at long range firefights without a scope, but that's not why I have a red dot for, right?

reddots are incomparable to iron sights, since with reddots you can see where your shot lands and by how far you missed (unless shooting at pixels) and a specialist doesnt even have a reddot
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

40k is deep like that.
