I used to live in Woodbridge. This is awesome finally having a US map... Getting to blow up my own house :D ! But I don't think PR has ANY statics that would work with that area, never seen any house at all in BF2 that looked like something from northern Virginia, even the armored fury expansion pack had no great US statics.

Well, I begin taking 3d Modeling at Eastern Washington University next quarter, if I get the hang of doing stuff you may see some houses or possibly a shopping center/ wal mart in the future, depending on how much time I have between work and school ;)

you going to use some of the operation road rage statics from the armoured fury map pack? i remember it had suburban statics in it. garden toys, houses, white picket fences, and big highway statics.

As someone who's entertained the thought of making a Yorktown map with US vs. the UK (for the lulz ;) ), I second this motion.

I'm currently pondering making a US vs. PLA map for vBF2 where China invades some Pacific-coast US land (somewhere from Guam and the Marianas to the California coastline) I have been hampered by the lack of suitable American statics, and am glad to see someone else doing America.

I'd write more, but I have to go now.

You should take Pavlovsk Bay as inspiration. Everyone in my squad agreed when playing that it felt like somewhere along the US east coast, especially considering the naval base.

There is nothing stopping mappers from making a US based map, it just can't have a large metropolitan area containing unique statics. A quiet seaside hamlet can be adequately represented using the SEagle village houses, and many from Vadso. Good luck to those who take it on, definitely has some cool potential.

Vadso uses many of the armored fury statics, much in a similar manner to which I will be using them.

That's the plan!

Anyway, I am working on a completely new version of the map, and I should have some pictures by the weekend.

Quick question, I have a heightmap, but every time I load it into the editor, there is a very small height range. I used BF2 HMT to load the heightmaps into the editor. In photoshop, the image had a very high contrast, but when I looked at it after HMT was done with it, The contrast was low. There is some visible height in the editor, but it is not enough to be interesting for gameplay.

So, is there a way I can increase the height "range" in the editor?

Thanks

Slight Problem:
When I am moving static objects in the editor, they no longer move smoothly. I can only see the results of the move after I let go of the mouse button, instead of seeing it in realtime. How do I fix this?

Open photoshop before opening the editor and that won't happen. Ye it's weird but it's due to the editor not opening/loading some file that photoshop does.

As he said. Doesnt matter if you do it before or after booting the editor tho. It doesnt even need to remain open you just need to boot the damn thing once and thats it.

It worked, thanks. The BF2 Editor acts in strange ways.

Okay, got a bunch of work done, OP updated.

I restarted the map, with a new location. This area is better suited for PR gameplay, and I thank splatters for suggesting it.

So, here is the new concept, alongside the map of the real area:

And here is the current minimap:

We're going to have map set in the interchange between 3 shopping malls, 2 marinas and a golf club directly and on top of the underground junctions of the fiber optic networks of the national military and intelligence agencies??

interesting... choice... of... locations...

Are you implying that its unrealistic to have a foreign invader in this location?
