PC crashes ingame at random times, several times per game.

My friend resently got BF2 and PR reality a day or two ago. We were finaly having a great time with PR and he was really getting into it, but then his PC started crashing while in-game randomly. I couldn't find a solution to the random crashes anywhere. At frist he thought it was an over clock problem while running the game, so he turned off the OC and his PC still crashed while playing.

His system specs: CPU-Z Validator 3.1

If you are reading his system specs, yes, he does have 8 Core I7s, 12 gigs of ram, and 2 GTX 560 TI duel SLI graffics cards.

The occasional CTD on BF2 is somewhat normal.
But if it happens regularly or more then every week you/he should try recreating the issue with BF2 in windowed mode.
Does it also crash in regular BF2?

A quick thing to try is deleting the BF2 shader cache.

We really don't really play BF2 much, but I could get him to see if it crashes. I'll tell you in a little bit. I will also get hi mto delete the cashes.

PR is still crashing his PC about ever 30 minutes to a half an hour of in-game play. He deleted the BF shader cashe, and PR aswell with no luck.

I am not really sure what you mean by "PC crashing". Does this mean

• the PC stops responding and needs to be rebooted,
• reboots on its own or
• does the game actually stops responding so that you can alt-tab into windows or
• is it just a CTD where the game closes itself?

Has he tried with lowering his settings to all low for testing purposes?

if your running BF2 in compatibility mode, turn it off, in win7
if its a BF2 related issue, and the programs CTDs

When I say "crash" I mean it freezes completely and he has to restart it. Its not a hardware issuse because hes checked and monitared everything while it crashes. He has also tryed it on low settings and nothing changed. Still crashed.

Its deffently not a CTD. Its a complete system freeze/crash.

Do you have skype or teamviewer or somthing so you can look into the problem a little more? We play PR everyday and get about 50 + crashes a day. It's becoming a real problem.

If I can get ANY help on this it would be the world to me. My friend is probably going to stop playing PR even though he loves it just because he's afrid of PC damge from the crashes.

I've got the same problem too, it occaisionally crashes, though not as much as your friends. When it crashes it just exits to the desktop. No alt-tabbing or restarting the computer, it just exits.

Any help?

Very unlikely. I have yet to see a single problem that is caused by too much available RAM.




The freezes can indicate

• system corruption (run "chkdsk c: /R" / check hard drive for errors/bad sectors [and repair]),
• overheating (check your temperatures [e.g. with speedfan]),
• hardware corruption or simply (run MemTest or similar),
• game file corruption (reinstall the game, verify the installers' file integrity [e.g. using MD5 sums])

+1 on this. You aren't using a Creative X-FI sound card right?

I had the same issue, try Disabling SLI. I found that SLI and PR tend to act funny.

My friend has the same problem than you, except it crashes like 30 secondes after he joined a game or it can be also 1 hour after.
We still didn't fix this problem
