64 bit crash to desktop

Post by Systema »

Hello all, I've been playing PR for about 2 months now, and up until this point I haven't run into any problems. Within the last few days, PR has been crashing to desktop after about 10 secs of being ingame and or 2 mins of gameplay. Don't really know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Hm, are you launching PR trough Steam app? IF so, try working without Steam cause afaik, it can cause some conflicts with PB and PR uses its own launcher so it would be better to use its own shortcut. If you deleted it, just go to battlefield 2 root directory and then navigate to folder mods/pr. You should find pr.exe there, so just right click it and send it to desktop. Make sure that you run it as administrator. To set this to be permanent right click your PR shortcut go to "Properties", "Compatibility" tab then make sure in privilege level section "Run as administrator" is checked.
Also close or shut down Steam app when running it. Try that and see how it works for you.

I've tried all of the above, but Steam will not allow me to close it while ingame, nor can I start PR without Steam launching.

No need to shutdown steam from task manager. You can always right lick on tray icon and select exit to close it. Now did you start PR from its shortcut? Can you say something about your system specs, video settings and which sound card you use? Do you run PR as admin if on win7?

I already told you not to launch PR from steam app. Please follow instructions above. Use PR shortcut to launch it and make sure you launch it with admin rights on.

@admin there are two same topics please merge or delete one, thanks

When you start your PC is Steam launching automatically or not? Do you see this box when you attempt to launch PR - steam starting?

Image

Have you checked you shortcut? There should be text like this in target box

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"
Not like this

Code: Select all

steam://rungameid/440
Edit target field to point to your bf2/pr installation and make sure check box on compatibility tab "Run this program as administrator" is checked.

You're kinda low on GPU horsepower consider upgrading.

Is that integrated graphic card? Try lowering your settings, and clearing the shaders cache. After that run vanilla BF2 join some server, to optimize shaders. After that close BF2 ad run PR as admin.

Yes, I see that box while launching PR, even when using the shortcut i was told to use before while running as administrator.

My current target for PR exe is
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"

Is this right?
