Removing the need for Pilot and Crewman kits
Me an a few friends have noticed that a few Co-Op servers allow any kit to be used in an aircraft or larger vehicle, I was wondering if there was anyway of setting the game up like this for local servers over Hamachi.
We love messing around in the game but aren't serious about playing it in co-op or proper multi-player, we just want to have fun with a limited number of players.
Thanks.

You can launch local co-op server, that don't require this kits.

Yeah that is how I create games, but when in the game I still get the black screen when entering a vehicle or aircraft unless I have the related kit.

Not saying this is the best easiest way to get around kits but I've created a shortcut on my desktop to this one python file simply because I open it constantly to tweak the server for my friends on LAN night every time I hear them grumble.LilDeamon wrote:Yeah that is how I create games, but when in the game I still get the black screen when entering a vehicle or aircraft unless I have the related kit.
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\python\game\realityconfig_coop.py"
# Enable/Disable the vehicles kits, squad and roles requirements.
# Default is enabled
C['VEHICLES_REQUIREMENTS'] = 0
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the one you're after. Everything in that file is pretty self explanatory...hell one night after hearing them grumble about limitations I set it so they could put down 100 static defences if they wanted...anti tank and the like...one night each team had so many forward outposts we turtled our way into each others no caps....now they can't get enough of project reality...before I discovered this file I had to beg and plead them to play...now they can't get enough.

Haha that's great, exactly what I was looking for. Its pretty much like that with the majority of my friends. XD
Will this have any affect with joining online server? Perhaps out of sync errors or punk buster ones?

Sorry dude no idea...have never gone online. You really shouldn't make edits to any of these files without first creating a backup or at least a copy of the line you are changing commented out with the # key so you can put it back if it causes a technical problem. The file does state right at the top, "PROJECT REALITY SERVER SETTINGS DEFINITION FOR COOP SERVERS" so I'm guessing it's purely server side.LilDeamon wrote:Haha that's great, exactly what I was looking for. It take no effect, if you try connect to another (online)server. Python files in pr created only for servers, clients know nothing about it.LilDeamon wrote: Will this have any affect with joining online server? Perhaps out of sync errors or punk buster ones?

I think there's a rcon command that removes the need for the kits

This file only control server side settings and its not a part of MD5 check I think ( not sure 100% ).
If you get a kick for editing this just change it back to normal but I doubt that will happen, even though I would advise you not to mess around too much with these files as it can cause undesirable effects and render your game unusable.

There is, but no rcon commands work in Co-op. Sad really as it would make training/testing gear/messing around by yourself so much easier and fun with live targets.Von_Gnome wrote:I think there's a rcon command that removes the need for the kits

Re: Removing the need for Pilot and Crewman kits
Pardon me for digging up a dated post, but didn't want to start my own and it pertains to the file being discussed...
but, is it possible to use this config file so that I can join in on the opposition side? (hamas, taliban, ch, etc..)
when setting up a coop game, I click the other team to join and i always get the message, "you've been switched to the other side by the server" or something similar, but I'm still on the us, uk, idf side...is theres and easy way to remedy this?
