I've just re-installed .973 (Full re-install) because of a previous issue with the recent update. However, as soon as I attempt to play on deployment, the game crashes quickly and instantly to desktop, not showing any loading screen at all between when I click "Deploy" and the crash. After some investigation, I looked in my Co-op host map files, and found that when I clicked a large ammount of the names that it does not come up with a map preview and did not freeze for a brief seconds like it does with the few installed maps. All installs completed without issue, and this is a new re-install to fix a previous issue, and so I am not sure what is the problem. I have already checked Punkbuster, .NET framework, and graphics for any issues, but I have ascertained that it must be that the maps failed to install. As I am not aware what part to re-install, or if I have to re-install at all, I've posted this to gain any information on the issue.
Thank you very much for any help you can offer,
Calstifer.

Does Battlefield 2 run without any issues?

Battlefield works beautifully, and always has. I've just checked to make sure, it's updated to 1.5 (And I did update in correct order, previous updates worked fine), and the gameplay is as it always was, without error or bug.

Check the "levels" folder. Check if any are missing.

All the folders are there, but I notice that the ones that dont work (Incidently the lower 3/4) have .tmp files while the ones that do work are openable by winRAR. I think that is the area that needs replacing. What should I do in order to replace it? Is it possible to obtain a copy of just the levels online?

Your installers might be corrupt. Try downloading the installers again.

You have .tmp files in levels directories? Its broken for sure if you have these instead of zip files.
What AV do you have try to disable it and run installer again as some of them might pickup false positives. IF this happens again with AV disabled, then either installer is corrupt or your memory/hdd might be failing.

Same here. Only everything seems fine. Zip files are in place.
