I just switched my old pc monitor for a vizio pc compatible monitor.I was playing the new map pack yesterday on the old pc monitor so im pretty sure it has something to do with my new one.
Double click the pr icon, screen turns to black,then it flickers a bit, and crashes.

Switching monitors often causes things like that. This is usually caused by difference in refresh rate.
Go to: my documents > battlefield 2 > profiles > 0001. Open up video.con with notepad. There's a line that says "VideoSettings.setResolution" followed by resolution and refresh rate in Hz. Remove the entire line, save, start BF2.
Btw, notice the 0001 being bold. If you have multiple profiles, you should do this for all.
You can also simply delete the video.con file entirely, BF2 auto-creates a new one for you, but you have to change all your video settings again.
