PR Not Playable Anymore.

Description:
Scince I installed the latest map pack yesterday I started to get problems with the new maps, Constant CTD on any of the new maps,
All of the old maps run perfectly fine.

So today I uninstall BF2 and PR the whole lot, and do a brand new clean install,
Now the game will not run at all,
So I uninstalled for a seccond time thinking it could be a problem with that install so I installed once more to no avail.

I am going to do it again to check, but before the map pack PR ran great for me.
Never had any Lag issues or other bugs like many more have had.
Ran great scince the first PR release.

Now It wont work at all.

Steps to Reproduce:
Not really relevant, Had CTD issues reinstalled now wont run at all.

Video Settings (if needed):
My graphics card is an Nvidia 9500GT 1gb, always ran the game perfectly.
I dont think this has relevance.

Audio Settings (if needed):
Onboard Sound


I am Running Windows 7 32bit currently.
And always have PR start with admin rights.
I have also tried diasbling all Aero themes and going right down to basic UI.

Please any help is apreciated.




/ Ive just got PR to work... I wasnt aware that after a clean install of BF2 and PR I had to run BF2 first of all.

But that seems to have solved the problems, Hopfully my CTD's on the new maps will go away, Ill let you know.

Are you sure you didnt download the BETA version?

As playing with the BETA version will cause you to CTD.

I tried those download links dude,
It just keeps going to a 404 page,

So I went to the downloads section of the site where all the other files and and got it from there,
It says it was the most up to date release.. the new release.

Still crashing on map load for the new maps however.

/edit Im not sure it will help, the version I installed was file version 0.9.7.3, I think that's exactly what I am downloading again..

If it is the same file then ill still be getting the CTD's

Just to let you know, I downloaded the file you said, I removed all previous versions and for the 4th time done a clean install and still crashes,

I notice there are other threads on the same subject, so feel free to close this one ill watch the others,

Just to try and help perhapse here are my full system specs,

Windows 7 32bit (need to get 64 but dont think thats a factor)
Latest Service packs.

500gb SATA Drive
4gb DDRII 1800mhz RAM
AMD Athlon 7750 Duel Core 2.7Ghz

Basic Keyboard and mouse & TFT,

9500 GT 1gb Nvidia Graphics card,
Latest Drivers for that.


Everything ran Perfectly,
Had high settings on all the time, Never any client side lag,
Not even on Falluja Map when other people complaind of lag.

Now just Insta CTD like I said in OP,

I hope you guys do find the issue and a fix,

In the mean time ill be having a look about to see if I can find the problem myself.

Is it black screen and CTD or nothing after the Project Reality splashscreen? Try running vanilla BF2.

WOW, I just downloaded the Map pack last night ( I let it run while i was asleep- 8hrs download time lol)
and I installed it this morning. I didn't load a map to test it or anything but I really hope I don't have any issues.

Should I be worried?!

Not really. I'm always happy-go-lucky and not much issues, but I'm kinda old school and keep my PC in a good shape all the time. A tip o you guys to defrag your drives and clean the clutter regularly. Do a registry clenaup from time to time. It happens to me to sometimes, I get CTD or Unable to open BF2 Process and I got pretty old PC myself - well not that old but not a top high end gear either. It Amd Athlon II x2 250 @ 3.01Ghz and 4Gb DDR II 800 RAM paired with GTS450 the 512Mb version and I run all on high with 8x AA and 8xAF. Ocassional lag here and there but its bearable.
One more thing you can do is to delete your shaders in Libraries>My Documents>Battlefield 2>mods>bf2>cache
After you do this always run vanilla BF2 first and join some online BF2 server to optimize your shaders. Once done shut it down and run PR from its shortcut as administrator.
Chances are that those I pointed above are in 80% cases the right solution but people often dont follow it right.

4Gb DDRII 1800Mhz??? Really? I want those too where can I get those! J/K prly typo it must be 800Mhz since CPU is AM2+

Some thoughts:

If you re-install PR, be sure to run vanilla BF2 at least once (i.e. go play Karkand once), then load PR.

Run PR in admin mode, and don't use compatibility mode.

Turn down your settings to medium and try again.
