Mark Crate Location on Maps

Post by Shovel »

I was thinking about this during a game yesterday, and I was wondering, should supply crates be marked on minimaps?

The marker wouldn't be large or anything, just enough to judge what areas need supplies.

It wouldn't be that unrealistic, either, in real life, the locations of supplies would be recorded.

Supply crates can be spammed in high numbers in main bases. This would cause an overload of markers covering the main base making it impossible to see unmanned or manned vehicles.

I'd rather not have a huge amount of makers on my map, regardless of size.

But what if Squad leaders were given the ability to mark them in the same manner enemy contacts and vehicles are marked via radio?

Second thoughts, in most cases supply crates are found near foward outposts and FOBs are visible on the minimap. So marking crates would be unnecessary or what?

Exactly. I don't want to go to a marker expecting a crate for it to be already blown up.

What if this can be made client-side? And marker will not be there all the time necessarily, it can be shown only if you use commo rose "need ammo" ?
By default if you use this, it will show you on map all people with rifleman kits, and ARs and Specialists for some reasons, but what if it can show a location of crates for some amount of time. That would be cool, and if possible to remove AR and Specialists from this. I dont see a reason why would they show up on this prompt.

Just make FOB icon turn blue or something if there is crates near-by.

If the crate is a vehicle, then it can have its own icon, but it's a little unnecessary, IMHO.

A player can only set 3 markers on the map. Once you surpass that number, the oldest one disappears. I believe the markers will disappear on their own after 20 minutes or so.

I like the idea of it showing up like an ammo icon on maps if you use the commo rose.

totally agree with op. having a supply crate marked/markable on the map would make the game that much more player friendly which equals fun becaus this is a game afterall, and would be realistic because it would be normal for ground forces to know where their supplies are through training or briefing or whatever they do to know vital shit like that.
in pr, travelling 50 meters in game is hard like in real life. searching around for a crate in a large building or forest somwhere within 50 meters in any direction can be annoying time consuming in pr.

I like the idea of a blue fob, it's simple, idle helis can also get something to do.

Calling for ammo and watching crates as they disappear and then calling for mortar is wrong.

Ammo rifleman code in crates so they show up when you request ammo.

Sounds clean and tidy without colours.

That FOB colour thingy doesn't help if the crate you are searching for doesn't have a FOB biuld next to it. The rifleman code seems better to me.

I like the idea of having the ammo marker come up when the comma rose is used.

Added to all crates (supply and the smaller APC deployed ones). Would help too if you spawn into a FOB for the first time and are trying to find the crates for a kit.

Waypoints work well. But also remember thst crates have a tendency to move.
