Request: New loading screens for Operation Overlord

Post by AfterDune »

The map "Project Normandy" will be renamed to "Operation Overlord" in the next version (the name of the addon remains the same).

Now, with this change, and many others, we also need new loading screens in the same style as regular PR loading screens. We require a total of four screens.

Make it happen, community ;) .

Requirements:
- PNG-format
- At least 1024x768
- Horizontal horizon

If the map is getting a new name, do we get more maps? :D
Its SO evil, it may actually encourage EA to support Modding again - Pantera

So, do you want to say that PN is becoming a regular map of standart PR?

The name of the map changes, not the name of the addon. Reason is that there will be more maps - hopefully. Overlord is a better name for the current map. All maps together form Project Normandy.

It's not rocket science..

seems sensible "project normandy" stick out like a sore thumb in server listings. Also, how would I go about get these screenshots?

I mean, like a coventional screen shot you cant float in the air with your player character. How do you have the camera fly around the map

And make sure to do a "renderer.drawHud 0" in the console, to remove the hud.

Like regular PR maps, so they have to be in-game screenshots.

(btw, this does NOT mean PN will get incorporated into PR)

He means in-game screenshots from dramatic/scenic angles that best represents certain characteristics of the map.

I do a bit of amateur photography in real life and I'll have fun taking some pictures in game so I'll take a good deal of shots, post them here and see if anyone likes them. These can be adjusted in Photoshop if need be, just let me know.

Sorry for the double post but wanted to add the additional shots I had as attachments because they're not uploading at the original resolution on any hosting sites for some reason (Photobucket, Flickr, etc.). The ones in my post above are my favorite four so far, these two were some extras one I choose out of a plethora I taken earlier.

It's funny to look at your last post, looks like the 2 thumbnails images make a big image showing a line of land between 2 beaches.

Otherwise the first one of your second post is really nice! :)

Standard PR load backgrounds have a horizontal horizon ;) . Use freecam (sv.allowFreeCam 1) or prbot2 (rcon prbot2). They are also captured in 1024x768. As well as this, images have a lot of graphical tweaks done using the debugger, and receive some work done in Photoshop.

Oh, and use png's at least man, those jpg's have horrible compression artifacts :p .

In the end though, if the map gets to the stage where it's quality enough for PR inclusion, they'll be redone anyway, so whatevs :) .

Thanks. Yeah I kind of noticed that as well when I posted them up, looked like an end of Wake Island.

Well, excuse my artsy style...

The jpg files were attached because the png files were uploading at a different resolution when using the attachment manager here. If anyone may have perhaps liked any one of them I could have simply emailed them as they originally were and enhanced them greatly in Photoshop (as I somewhat stated prior).

But yeah... whatevs. I'm sure someone will get them done eventually. I had fun doing it.

AM, thanks for the info - I didn't know that. Will adjust the first post with that info.

Don't tell me I wasted a couple of hours last night to redo them all over again...captured them in a 1440x900 resolution.

Also, my photoshop skills are as good as a monkey with a paintbrush. Is it really necessary that I alter its state or can someone else do it for me?

If it's 1024x768 or higher, it's fine. Project Normandy is not official, so we can give the screenshots some PS love afterwards. Don't worry :) .

What is the recipe that you guys use on all of the load screens in Photoshop?
Or is that a closely guarded PR secret?

The PRBot has that funtion ;) ..

Simply hit "2" while in the PRBot, and your hud will disapear ;)
