Everytime I make a video with fraps and then edit it and upload it with sony vegas pro 10, the video comes out very dark and is hard to see somtimes :(
I make all my videos 1080p HD and I have tryed all different settings to try get it right :/

Does anyone use this software and could please help?

Here's a quick video of what I meant....(watch at 36 seconds, that room is black!)

Haters going to hate but im not botherd about the game, im more botherd about trying to get my videos better.

I had the same issue with 9.0c

Renders are over contrasted [too dark] - BigD Gaming Community

I can't remember if I ever fixed it or if it went away...

Edit:

I think it somehow got fixed...

These videos happened chronologically, starting with the first video that the above thread was about

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLFNkRDZlYY - Not sure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piPUP7rgpjw - Looks like it's too dark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRSQ6JzTncA - Looks fine

How do you encode them at the end?? AVI? .MOV? etc... These compressions can loose detail. I used to be told to stick to either mov or DV PAL. Although I used Adobe, so no first-hand experience of vegas, but try compressing to different formats at the end.

Edit: Remember the fraps content is raw imaging of the screen, and when you're putting it through Vegas, you are compressing it (to get the reduced file size I presume). In this compression, quality will be lost, but you can differ how much by changing the format and normally the quality of the output in export settings.

Im not 100% on what settings do what when choosing them, I follow Youtube tuts to help me out with that. The one I followed for the video above was this one:

Unfortunately don't have Vegas myself as I mentioned, but I saw you can choose the file format in the saving process, where he goes for SONY AVC. Try saig as a mov or even a normal mp4 (main cocept avc/aac version). You can also play with the bitrate, to change settings. Also recommend saving in PAL, as you're from the UK, and that is our format. Americans use NTSC :P .

But you can try experimenting with different types, find the best one for you and your videos. Just use a short clip and render many times, and save each as their file type/bitrate.

None of that addresses the OP's problem of overcontrasted renders though... :? ??:

It could very possibly fix it, dependant on how you compress the videos depends on what values each pixel gets in return, if you think of it that way, the compressions the important part :) , the PAL and NTSC doesn't really matter, just good to keep the standards going, and keep compatibility with all the things he could play it on.
