Does the installer automatically recognize that I installed BF2 via Steam, or do I need to point it in that directory?
And are there any workarounds I need to do if I do go for the Steam install?
I just want to know because I'm either going to get it on Steam or order it from Amazon.

If it is not much of a hassle, just order amazon. don't buy deluxe because all the maps are free.
steam has wierd issues whenever my friends have used it for PR.

It was actually a huge hassle ordering off Amazon because apparently my package was "lost" by UPS...Amazon Prime ftw......FLAP_BRBGOING2MOON wrote:If it is not much of a hassle, just order amazon. don't buy deluxe because all the maps are free.

That was like a week ago and I just got refunded for the package so I kind of want to avoid it lol. And I've heard that the new PR installer has been updated for Steam installs. Is that accurate?

Re: Installing Project Reality using BF2 from Steam
PR works fine on Steam, so feel free to grab it off there if it's easier. However be aware that in the last week or so, Steam has had an issue with all mods. Simple fix which solves all problems is detailed in this thread
.
Another alternative is Origin, which also has no issues with PR.
The installer will detect the installation path just fine, just make sure you've run BF2 at least once on Steam or Origin before trying to install PR
. The first time you run BF2 it completes the installation. Without this PR will not work, as it will not detect BF2 installed properly.

Re: Installing Project Reality using BF2 from Steam
I have the Steam version of BF2 and PR works perfectly fine 90% of the time.
When installing it automatically detected the BF2 directory within Steam. IIRC with one of the map packs it didn't and I had to manually point to the right place, but beyond that I never had installation problems.
The only issue I have is that I'd occasionally get the "you have to open PR from the pr.exe shortcut" error, usually if my connection is slow and BF2 loads slower than PR seems to like. There's also the problem with no servers showing up, but as mentioned it has a really simple fix that also happened to fix the other minor issues I've had.
Overall you should be fine if you listen to what everyone else said.

I get that error too. I usually just rerun PR but it gets annoying sometimes.Apocalypse89 wrote:I have the Steam version of BF2 and PR works perfectly fine 90% of the time.

Ok, so I just installed the mod and I can't see any online servers nor can I see any maps when I try to create a offline game.
Any solutions?

It's a STEAM issue and there are threads all over about it. Try this:

Re: Installing Project Reality using BF2 from Steam
I just downloaded PR from utorrent and I can go on the project reality setup but when I get to the selecting destination location it wont automatically link to my bf2 steam so I have gone on the game like three times and it still says it what do I do?
